Main article: Food

In The Legend of Zelda, Bait (also called Food) is purchased from shops and can be used to attract some enemies. Its essential use, however, comes in the dungeons, where it is used to remove foul-tempered Goriyas from the path.

Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons

In Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, Scent Seeds can be used as ammunition, or simply placed on the ground to lure monsters close.

The Wind Waker

In The Wind Waker the All-Purpose Bait can be used on enemies and several animals to draw them nearer. The main purpose of this bait however, is to feed it to Fishman so Link can persuade him to draw parts of the sea chart and give detailed information.

A Hyoi Pear can be used to possess seagulls, which can help Link find and overcome hard-to-reach place or obstacles. To do this, Link humorously places a pear on his head and assumes a meditating position.

Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess bait comes in two forms, both used for bobber fishing.

Bee Larvae

To obtain bee larvae, Link can knock down any of the beehives that are seen scattered throughout Hyrule, mainly the one in Ordon Village and another one behind Hena's fishing hut. After the bees are destroyed, the remains of the beehive can be scooped up by using an empty bottle. Each scoop contains ten (10) larvae. The larvae can also be purchased from Sera's Sundries for 10 Rupees.

Worms

Worms can be obtained from Bomskit or from digging in mounds of dirt as Wolf Link. After defeating a Bomskit, it will leave a worm wiggling in the ground which can be easily scooped with an empty bottle, yielding only one (1) worm.
