Uses
This red cane, when used, instantly creates a single block that Link can push and sometimes carry around. Only one block can exist at a time. This is useful to press slacked switches or obstruct enemy projectiles. In A Link to the Past, magic is needed to create blocks, which also can be detonated or picked up and thrown.
Appearances and Locations
A Link to the Past
In A Link to the Past, the Cane of Somaria is the treasure item of Misery Mire. The Cane of Somaria is mostly used in Turtle Rock.
Oracle of Ages
In Oracle of Ages, the Cane of Somaria plays a very similar role as it does in A Link to the Past, though without requiring the use of magic power (most likely because the Magic Meter does not exist in the Oracle Series). It is the primary treasure of Level 5, Crown Dungeon. Unlike A Link to the Past, the blocks cannot be detonated.
Four Swords Adventures
In Four Swords Adventures, the Level 2 Fire Rod works very similarly to the Cane of Somaria. When thrown into a Great Fairy Fountain, a regular Fire Rod, along with many items in this game, would be leveled up. It can then be swung to create red blocks. By swinging the rod again the first block would disappear and send fireballs flying in four directions.
