These signatures are located on sub-pages of our user pages. They can then be called much like a template by doing this: {{:User:Ando/sig}}. Each user does not have to make one of these signatures, but they can significantly save on space on talk and voting pages. As opposed to having the entire coding and formatting of the signature right there. This can prevent accidents of someone mistakenly altering signatures on a page. Also, if you update your signature, every instance of it is also upgraded, as opposed to each one being independent and static.

This category exists for the convenience of the users so that they can easily go back to it and make changes. It also allows other users to look at another's signature for guidance. Please do not use another person's signature to sign your own posts.

Creating a Signature

To make a signature, follow these steps:

1. Create a page titled like this:
    User:Username/sig
   Replace Username with your username.
2. Put whatever code you would like. Make sure to follow the rules!
3. Categorize your signature page into this category by typing exactly this after your signature:
    <noinclude>[[Category:User Signatures|{{PAGENAME}}]]</noinclude>
   Type exactly that! do not alter it.
4. Save the page.
5. Create a second page titled like this:
   User:Username/sig2
   Replace Username with your username.
6. In the second page type only this:
    {{:User:Username/sig}}
7. Do not categorize the second page!
8. Save the second page.
9. Go to my preferences and type the following in the signatures box:
    {{Subst:User:Username/sig2}}
   Replace Username with your username.
10. Enable the raw signatures option.
11. Save your preferences.
12. Now just use your signature like you normally would with tildes.

To add colors to your signature, use the Color Template. Just make sure it isn't to flashy and that it has good contrast to the background.

Rules Regarding Signatures

There are various rules we ask that you adhere to regarding signatures. Following these rules ensure that nobody is "drawn" to a certain person's post because of their distracting signature, as this might cause them to ignore most other messages.

• DO NOT MAKE YOUR SIGNATURE AS A TEMPLATE!!! It must be in the "User" namespace.
• Name your signature like: User:Username/sig
• DO NOT NAME YOUR SIGNATURE WITH ABBREVIATED VERSION OF YOUR USERNAME!!! It must be your full username.
• Do not add any time functions to your signature page. They will not work.
• No images in the signatures.
• Don't make the signatures longer than they need to be. "User (talk)" is okay, but "User (talk) Hey guys, this is my signature!!" is unacceptable.
• If colors are to be used, make sure that they aren't too distracting and that they remain clearly visible against the background.
• No "talk bubbles" or "word bubbles". Only standard signatures. See the existing signatures in this category for examples.
• We request that you be courteous to other users by adding a timestamp to your posts every time!
