The Deadrock is a rock-based creature that makes its home on the summit of Death Mountain in A Link to the Past and in the Death Mountain Foothills of Four Swords Adventures. They are bipedal creatures with tiny wings, although they have never been seen flying. When the Deadrock is hit with weapons such as a sword, it will morph into an impenetrable rock statue, and stay that way for a few moments before it transforms back into its normal, mobile form. This statue form is invincible, but it will not cause damage, so Link must pass while it is stunned. The small angelic-like wings and their defensive abilities may be where its name comes from; perhaps they are seen as some kind of spirit of Death Mountain's rocks. In A Link to the Past the Deadrock is an invincible creature, but if you sprinkle Magic Powder on a Deadrock or use the Quake Medallion it will turn into a Slime so it can be defeated. In Four Swords Adventures however, Deadrocks can be destroyed by fire and by the Magic Hammer, which will crush them outright.
