Gameshark was cheating device made by Interact (currently owned by MadCatz, Inc). It is not endorsed by Nintendo. The device allows users to get infinite ammo, lives, or health, access hidden levels, etc.

It also allows access to features that are not normally available in the game but are still programmed into the game's code. The most famous example of this is the Arwing in the Ocarina of Time.

The Gameshark is notorious for irreparably damaging itself, the game, and/or the system. The most common occurrence was the Gameshark itself failing and becoming unusable.

Ever since Interact sold the Gameshark line to Madcatz, the devices are only made for backing up and storing saved games.

The Gameshark is on the following platforms[1]:

  • Game Boy
  • Game Boy Color
