In Ocarina of Time, the Horseback Archery Range[1] is located in the rear of the Gerudo Fortress, led to by a dirt road. It can only be played after Link has obtained the Gerudo Membership Card and once he has retrieved Epona from Lon Lon Ranch.[2]
The range is used to test a person's archery skills while on horseback. Link must get on Epona and speak to the Gerudo in charge for the archery range, who will charge the young hero a fee of 20 Rupees to play.[3] The objective of the minigame is to shoot as many targets as possible with only twenty arrows while Epona gallops. If Link hits a pot or the center of the large, circular targets on the side, he will receive 100 points; however, if he misses the center of the target but still hits it, he will still be rewarded with points depending on how far away the arrow hit from the center. By scoring 1000 or more points, Link will receive a Piece of Heart.[4] If the young hero tries again and scores 1500 points or more, he will be awarded with a bigger quiver.[5]
