Gold Skulltula Tokens (Gold Skulltula Spirits in Majora's Mask[1]) are skull-shaped objects that are left by a Gold Skulltula after it is defeated. They are to be collected by the one who defeats the Gold Skulltula, in order to have proof of their victory. Gold Skulltula Tokens are known for their ability to undo a curse made by a Gold Skulltula.

Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, Gold Skulltulas were hidden all throughout Hyrule, and were known to curse people. One family in particular entered the Gold Skulltula House and were all cursed to become Skulltula-like creatures. The curse can only be fully lifted by collecting all 100 Gold Skulltula Tokens from each Gold Skulltula.

Every 10 Tokens (until 50 Tokens) will cause one of the sons in the house to become un-cursed. After the final 100th Token, the father will also have his curse broken. Every time a family member's curse is broken, they reward Link with something good.

  • 10: Adult Wallet, so Link can carry 200 Rupees.
  • 20: Stone of Agony, allowing your Rumble Pak/Feature to vibrate when Link comes upon a secret grotto or feel the fish biting at the Fishing Game at Lake Hylia.
  • 30: Giant's Wallet, so Link can carry up to 500 Rupees.
  • 40: 10 Bombchu.
  • 50: A Piece of Heart.
  • Upon acquiring all 100 tokens, Link can return anytime (at any age) and repeatedly receive gold rupees worth 200 Rupees from the father of the house.

A glitch within the game will allow Link to gain an unlimited amount of Gold Skulltula Tokens from the same Gold Skulltula. It involves standing near the exit portal in the secret grotto located near Hyrule Castle, throw the Boomerang at the Gold Skulltula token, then while the Boomerang is coming back, Link must back flip into the portal as the Boomerang comes at him. He will gain the Token, but the Gold Skulltula will not register as having been defeated. In this way you may re-enter the hole as many times as you wish.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, Gold Skulltulas are seen only in two different places: the Swamp Spider House and the Oceanside Spider House. They still curse people that enter, and as a result, Link takes it upon himself to purge the houses of their 30 Gold Skulltulas. Rather than calling them "Tokens", the objects left behind in this game are called Gold Skulltula Spirits[1], and the prizes now consist of the Mask of Truth from the Swamp Spider House, and the Giant Wallet from the Oceanside Spider House.
