Story
After succesfully freeing one of the Four Giants in Southern Swamp, Link goes to the northern mountains, Snowhead; during his travels, however, he finds the Lens of Truth and manages to see a Goron ghost, who asks him to follow him. Link and the ghost walk back to the mountain village and climb up to the Goron Graveyard, where the ghost reveals Link that he, Darmani the Third, died after trying to go to Snowhead Temple and falling into an abyss. He feels so sad because of the Goron people suffering by the extreme cold of the mountains, that he can't rest in peace; Link then plays the Song of Healing to heal the ghost's wounds, and then receives the Goron Mask to make wise use of Darmani's body in order to find a way to solve the unnatural problem.
After saving the Goron people, Goron Link can learn to use Powder Kegs with the help of an instructor; this becomes important to gain access to Romani Ranch, where Epona is.
Abilities
While in Goron form Link can go into a roll, and when he curls for long enough, spikes will appear around his body to make him roll even faster, helping him to get past jumps and icy terrain and can also destroy or damage many enemies and jars; this powerful ability requires magic power, so it won't appear if Link doesn't have. Goron Link's main direct attack is his punch, which is able to break certain objectsm or to hit things harder. Also, only Goron Link can purchase a Powder Keg, due to the extreme size of them, and Goron Link can only hold one at a time. If B is pressed while Goron Link is in curl form, he can perform a ground-pound attack; this is called a Goron Pound[1], and is good to hit hardened switches, stun enemies and break heavy objects.
Instrument
While in Goron form Link's Ocarina takes the form of drums. These drums are popular among Gorons, and they are needed to give effect to the Goron Lullaby melody.
Trivia
- Goron Link's Goron Pound and punch are equivalent, in function, to the Megaton Hammer.
- In Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask there is a goron named Link. The Ocarina of Time version is the son of Darunia, while the Majora's Mask version is an unfotunate soul who has his name confused for "Link-goro" (due to his stutter).
- Goron Link cannot be harmed by ReDeads or Gibdo.
