Great Bridge of Hylia

The Great Bridge of Hylia is the bridge that spans Lake Hylia in Twilight Princess connecting the west and south sections of Hyrule Field.

Link's first journey over the bridge is in his wolf form, in an attempt to gather Tears of Light for the Light Spirit, Lanayru. A Bulblin grunt sets the oil-coated bridge on fire, hindering Link's progression, and he is forced to jump the bridge into the depths of Lake Hylia below to continue his search for Tears of Light.

Link's second voyage over the bridge is in his human form, transporting a mortally sick Prince Ralis to Kakariko Town for medical care. Instead of fire, King Bulblin stands in Link's path, offering a jousting rematch of sorts, to redeem his defeat at the Bridge of Eldin earlier in the game. In defeating the Bulblin King as second time, Link is able to continue to Kakariko Town, and cross the bridge unhindered forevermore.

The Great Bridge of Hylia is also home to both male and female species of golden mantis insects. The female mantis is located south of the bridge against the rock facade immediately after the bridge, while the male counterpart flies around the bridge overhang near its north side.
