Use(s) Unlock Vaati's Palace

Great Keys are special keys that are required to enter Vaati's Palace in Four Swords.[1] They can also be used to unlock bonus content in A Link to the Past. Great Keys can be obtained from the Great Fairies after completing a level with a certain number of Rupees.[2] The Great Fairies will dub the Links every time they get a key, starting from "little eggs" to "brave heros" and finally "the greatest of heroes".[3][4][5] Great Keys come in three types: Silver, Golden and Hero.

The Links can initially obtain the Silver Keys after beating each stage with a minimum of 1,000 Rupees. After defeating Vaati for the first time, they can obtain the Golden Keys by completing each stage with a minimum of 3,000 Rupees. Once they defeat Vaati a second time, they can obtain the Hero's Keys with a minimum of 5,000 Rupees. Each set of key unlocks a different ending.
