Located in central Hyrule, the Great Palace is the final palace visited by Link after he manages to unseal it by visiting the other Palaces and placing shards of the Magic Crystal in the heads of statues there. It houses the Triforce of Courage, which he needs to rise Princess Zelda from her unnatural slumber. Within the Palace walls, Link defeats Thunderbird and Dark Link.
The Great Palace lies after a grueling gauntlet of caves and enemy ambushes that make even reaching the palace a challenge. The Palace itself is by no means lenient at all: It's a cream-colored sanctuary consisting of an extremely complex underground labyrinth; new enemies appear here, including a giant Bot, and they're much fiercer than those seen in the other dungeons. It has multiple dead ends, lava holes and secret zones leading to goods; Link has to survive across this complex dungeon to find the Thunderbird, face Dark Link, and find the last piece of the Triforce so that Princess Zelda can be awakened.
