The Knights of Hyrule, are referred to in nearly every game, however they only make one appearance. Their strongest reference is in A Link to the Past, where it is they who are supposed to save the Maidens. [1]
Four of the Knigts of Hyrule, under the name of Royal Knights do appear in Four Swords Adventures. They are charged with the task of guarding the four Royal Jewels, which Link must collect in order to save Hyrule. The Royal Knights give the four Links one pearl each, every one representing one color. It is unknown what happened to them, but they appear to be ghosts.
