Location and Uses

The Magical Key allows the user to unlock any Locked Door.[1] Unlike a normal Key, it is reusable, meaning that regular keys are rendered useless for the rest of the game. In The Legend of Zelda, the key count is replaced with the letter A to show this.[2]

In The Legend of Zelda, it can be located in the eighth Labyrinth; in The Adventure of Link, it is found after using the Spell at the edge of Hidden Kasuto.[3] In the first game, the key is golden, and it has a bow shaped like the head of a lion. In the second, it's also gold-colored, but the lead shape resembles more a coat of arms.
