Characteristics and Weaknesses
Pikits hop around, often near water, and when Link gets close they extend their tongues to steal from him. Pikits can steal Green Rupees, Bombs, Arrows and even Shields. Pikits can be found all over the Dark World and should be kept at a distance if Link doesn't want to have his items eaten, and are especially dangerous if he has either a Fighter's Shield or a Red Shield, as he can lose them if the Pikit eats them. However, Pikits are unable to eat the Mirror Shield. If Link destroys a Pikit, it will drop the last item it ate, so it is possible to retrieve a stolen shield if Link is careful. A Pikit's tongue can extend over short walls in places like the Skeleton Forest though, and if Link cannot reach the Pikit in time, he will be forced to purchase a new shield from shops in the Dark World.
Trivia
- In Japan, the Pikit shares its name with the Like Like, a monster with which it also shares the propensity of stealing shields.
- Despite being the same monster in Japan, normal Like Likes also appeared alongside Pikits in the Dark World in the Game Boy Advance remake. These Like Likes would only eat shields, and could even eat the Mirror Shield.
