The Pineapple is the seventh item in the Trading Sequence in Link's Awakening. When Link has obtained the honeycomb from a tree in Ukuku Prairie, he then needs to give it to the Chef Bear in Animal Village. The Chef Bear will then give Link the Pineapple for his troubles, which Link can then trade to Papahl in Tal Tal Heights for the Hibiscus.
Because the mid sequences of Link's Awakening's trading sequence is required to be done in order to progress further in the game later on, it is acquired that Link trades the honeycomb to the Chef Bear. When Link first enters the village, he could not get to Yarna Desert because of a walrus is blocking the path. The game requires that Link asks for the aid of Marin and to learn the Ballad of the Wind Fish. However Marin will only tag along with Link if he trades the honeycomb to the Chef Bear, and so on.
Once Link has traded the honeycomb, the rest of the trading sequence in Link's Awakening is optional, as the game does not require the use of the Magnifying Glass or the Boomerang to complete the game, as listings of all possible directions to navigating the Wind Fish's Egg can easily be found online.
