Purlo (ダンチョー, Danchou), a character from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, runs the STAR mini game in the western thoroughfare of Hyrule Castle Town (GCN version). Purlo has the characteristics of a scam artist, as he designed the STAR Game to be unbeatable. This is evidenced by many things he mumbles under his breath.[1] When Castle Town is still covered by the Twilight Curtain, Link can eavesdrop on Purlo's spirit outside the STAR Game tent, where his conniving character is given away by this sort of muttering.[2] Initially, Purlo treats Link like a victim he can con into playing the STAR Game, but if Link somehow manages to win, Purlo takes it personally, and he creates a more difficult version of the game just for Link. When Link beats the second version of the game, Purlo gives up on conning Link and dreads his presence from then on.[3] When Link approaches Purlo in his wolf form, it is revealed that Purlo has canine allergies, which seem to bother him even more than the fact Link is a wolf.
Trivia
- Purlo is a play on the word "purloin", which means to steal or sneak.
- Purlo was made to resemble Tingle, as his green clothes, his blue clock, and parts of his personality suggest.
