Stinging a Stinger, was the 9th episode in The Legend of Zelda Animated Series. Its first aired on November 3rd, 1989.Here is the Synopsis:

Link is tricked into trading his great sword for a shoddy one, leaving he and Zelda totally defenseless when they're captured by Gannon and taken to the Underworld - where the same peddler who traded Link's sword shows up and offers it to Gannon.
