The Swamp Spider House,[citation needed] also known as the Fearful Spider House,[1] is a mini-dungeon in Majora's Mask.

Entrance to the House[]

The Spider House is located relatively close to the Deku Palace in the Southern Swamp. However, the entrance to the House itself is blocked by a spiderweb that must be burned (either with a Deku Stick or with a Fire Arrow) in order to gain access. The Cursed Rich Man in the vestibule explains that the curse on the House can only be lifted by defeating all 30 Gold Skulltulas inside.[2][3] When talked to when wearing the Mask of Truth, the Cursed Rich Man's dog says that its master is always filled with greed.[4]

Themes and Navigation[]

The Swamp Spider House has several puzzles that cannot be completed without a multitude of items. Up to two Magic Beans are a possible necessity, as two Gold Skulltula Spirits cannot normally be reached without the platform that the beans provide; however, this problem could be circumvented by using the Hookshot, although this does not become available until much later in the game. Another necessity are Bugs, which can conveniently be found within the house. The Gold Skulltulas are hiding all over the house, in various nooks and obscured by pillars, dirt, and pots. Link must use all resources acquired up to Magic Beans in order to find all thirty Gold Skulltulas.

Once the Gold Skulltulas are defeated, the Cursed Rich Man within the Spider House will be cleansed, and he will express his thanks to Link by giving him the Mask of Truth.

In Majora's Mask 3D, defeating all 30 Gold Skulltulas a second time will result in the Cursed Rich Man giving Link a Fishing Hole Pass and remarking that he will get rid of the mask.
