Link takes Princess Zelda to a picnic in a faraway place from the castle,[1] and the princess, impressed by the romantic place Link chose,[2] immediately offers a kiss to the young hero.[3] However, they are interrupted when an Underworld entrance begins to raise and a gang of Tektites come out from it.[4] Link and Zelda are successful in defeating a few of them, but then several Tektites wrap the princess up in spider webs while the young hero loses his sword to one of the foes that sneaked up behind him. Link eventually saves the princess, and just as they are about to try to kiss again,[5] a cupid statue nearby sinks completely into the ground.[6] Tired about Ganon's evil deeds, Zelda decides it is time to go visit the evil wizard and have a showdown with him.[7] As they are making their way to the Underworld, the Triforce of Wisdom informs them that Ganon is in possession of an item called the Overworld Magnet, which explains the strange recent events, and that the only way to destroy it will be by using Magic Bracelets.[8] Suddenly, North Castle begins to sink into the Underworld, but the duo, unable to do anything, continues on their way.[9][10]
Meanwhile, in the Underworld, Ganon is sure that the Triforce of Wisdom in his hands now that the whole castle is in his lair;[11] however, he soon discovers that the Triforce is not in the castle and goes mad[12] while King Harkinian and Spryte try to hide from his rage.[13] Later, Link defeats a Darknut, which drops the Magic Bracelet that the Triforce of Wisdom was talking about.[14] Link then confronts Ganon[15] while Zelda tries to retrieve the Triforce of Power.[16] The evil wizard eventually ties up Link in chains with one of his spells and proceeds to pull Zelda closer using his magic.[17] Just before Ganon grabs the Triforce of Wisdom from Zelda, Link uses the Magic Bracelet to break out of the chains and uses his super-strength to throw him far away,[18] which causes Ganon to knock over the Overworld Magnet. This leads the magnet to slowly bring North Castle up to the surface again,[19] and although Zelda tries to get the Triforce of Power,[20] Link picks her up and jumps into the castle walls.[21] As the castle reaches the surface, the Overworld Magnet begins to overload and explodes in front of Ganon.[22]
