Non-Canon Information! The following article or section is not Zelda canon, and shouldn't be taken as such.

The Legend of Zelda: The Gerudo Wars is a prequel to the fan game The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage and is based off the long running manga series by the same name. It was leaked out on several gaming forums where anonymous users posted a banner of a bloody Triforce with nothing but the year '2009' on it. Fan speculation believed it was an actual official Zelda game, until the game's creator announced it was only a fan game.

A demo of the game released on November 17th, 2009

About

It was originally intended that the game used the Enlight Engine in early 2008, a program that was used to make the game Warlords Battlecry III. However, it was later announced that the game would be made with the engine EA used to create the popular Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth series. After over a year of silence it was finally announced that the Gerudo Wars will be created using a highly modified version of RPG Maker that allows for the programming of RTS style gameplay.

Gameplay

All gameplay unfolds in real time as players amass resources, construct armies, and ultimately clash with enemy forces.

The Gerudo Wars is defined as a tactical Real Time Strategy game. Players will take control of one of seven different factions from the Zelda universe, each faction having four different hero characters that grant the player special units or abilities. The factions are largely represented by their manga counterparts and as such as several differences from their canon incarnations. The player will initially start with a central base structure from which they can create supply and soldier units. Rupee pits dot the maps and players will have to secure them to receive income needed to produce their armies. The ultimate goal is to destroy the opponent's base and their armies.

Rupees appear to be the primary resource needed to construct units in the game.

Story

Details about the plot are largely unknown, though it can be assumed it is largely based on the Gerudo Wars manga. The game is set 20 years prior to the events of The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage.
