Please feel free to ask me anything on my talk page! Whether it's about one of my edits, a page I started, a page you want me to create, my Timeline Theory, a general question, or you just want to get to know me, I'll be more than happy to answer. Also, I've recently taken a liking to designing userboxes. If you'd like me to make one in particular, feel free to ask! Alter  {T C B H }

Stuff[]

If you want to add an image request to the page: on the very top line of the page type in 'image' (without the quotes) in the { } brackets. Also, please do not make references small in size. It might make sense, but it messes up the page. Lastly, be sure of sign all posts on talk pages by typing in four ~ marks after your last sentence. See ya later! User:Austin2862/sig 05:11, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the tips! What do you mean, do not make references small in size? I'm not sure how to change their size... Alter 05:29, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes. You can make text smaller, but it is usually never need in references. If you want to make text smaller, just type in the following: <small>your text here</small>. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, or an admin! User:Austin2862/sig 05:46, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Zelda Dungeon[]

Hey there, I saw that you joined the Zelda Dungeon Forum and added the Wiki template to your Wiki page, awesome! At the forums, I made you a part of the ZeldaWiki usergroup, so you now have a blue usergroup color, a small banner under your name in your posts, and you can now post in the ZeldaWiki section of the forum. I know you got your own site and I don't expect to see you much, but thanks for joining and putting the template on the Wiki. Good luck with your site too. Getting quite close to it. Mases 05:43, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks a million! I'll start making some posts there once I have time. —Alter 18:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Some Advice[]

It's good to see that you're so keen in contributing to the wiki and making so many edits. As a Patroller, there's a few things that I've noticed with you edits that I want to point out to you, so you can improve your editing.

  • References: Just adding a game title as a reference isn't accurate. References are either in-game quotes or websites/ books etc where the information was obtained from. References are there with an in game quote to support a section in the article, or a website to say you obtained that information from there. Just stop putting game titles as sole references for the whole page.
  • New Pages: Make sure you throughly search the wiki before creating a new page, for example the LA DX page you created already has its place on the LA page, so I changed it to a redirect. If you think LA DX should be separate discuss it on the talk page of LA.
  • Effort: I ask you to take a little bit more time on each edit and add more detail. Make sure that when you mention the page title in the page, make it bold the first time it appears. Make sure you always say what game the page corresponds too, using the full name. Overall you need to add more detail to your edits and add pictures, so we don't just end up with heaps of stubs. Also remember to wiki link to everything necessary.

If you take these into account, you're on track to becoming a great editor. Feel free to discuss it with me further if you need more clarification. - M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 06:17, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing. I don't have any sort of thing to take good SS's with, so that's why I put up the image request on most of the pages. It's also hard to find and TRR images of these items online. The reason I put up the LA:DX page was because a lot of pages linked to that with a red link, and there was no redirect. What I actually did was moved the section from LA to LA:DX. I'm terribly sorry, I didn't realize that it'd be a problem.

I don't want to sound argumentative, but I'm assuming you're talking about the Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland items. Honestly, there's not much more I can do with those, unless they are grouped together on a page. I can really only mention what game they're in, what they are/do, and where they're found. Perhaps I should see if they should be grouped together on the talk page?

I noticed that on some of the pages you put a stub tag on, there is nothing else to be added. Some of the chars just have a name and a minute of game time. Do the stub tags need to remain?

Also, there are no other refs to the items and such that are only found in one game. There is no mention of them elsewhere. Any tips? —Alter 18:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

They may be little mentioned about them in game, but one or two sentences is a stub. They need to have what game, how obtained, any storyline significance and what they do. Add a picture (Or template) and that's a little non-stub paragraph, even though it is extremely short.
Most of the broken Links are to pages we really don't need anyway, so I'll have to give them a clean up.
As for references, if no specific quote is needed or available to support what's being said in the article, then don't have any references. But I'm sure they do have some quotes, such as when you obtain them or something that could be used as a reference. - M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 22:53, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I'll work on that. :) —Alter 23:15, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Move[]

Wanted to let you know that I moved your DX article suggestion to it's own section at the bottom of the page. Mandi Talk 19:26, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks.

Uploads[]

I would not upload anything unless you know it is going to be used. Otherwise, it just leaves a load of unused images which are not needed, and take up space. User:Austin2862/sig 23:21, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

I was using it as a profile pic. : )

Images[]

When you upload a new image be sure to add one of the sourcing templates found here.- M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 23:23, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

I fixed it. Is it correct? —Alter 23:31, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Better. Just use the templates and don't add notes. I fixed that up for you. - M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 07:41, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
You're putting lots of effort into your user page... hey? - M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 06:34, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Not exactly. I'm more or less trying to get a feel for ZeldaWiki. I'm very unfamiliar with the coding and formatting, so I figure if I can learn how to make MY page nice, I can make other pages nice too. Also, I didn't want to screw up other pages practicing. ; ) Alter  {T C B H } 17:29, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Ahhh... I see what you did with my page now. So that's why it was spilling into the rest of the page. lol Alter  {T C B H } 17:32, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

That is wise...many of the staff now, such as me and Matt, begun by our user pages... Yeah...remember to use the </font> when you need the font finished. No worries.- M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 23:08, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Skype[]

Hey there, do you have Skype? If so, could you let me know what it is? We have a Wiki chat that I think you'd be a welcomed addition to. Mases 02:11, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Nope, I don't have one. If you'd like, though, I could create one. Oh, and I was meaning to ask you- it looks like Zelda in my Pocket may fall through. If so, would you mind if I contributed my current works to ZD? I'd also be more than happy to help you guys out. Alter  {T C B H } 02:14, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Ya, if you can download Skype that would be awesome. We have a cool Wiki area there and it would be cool to be able to chat with you live. Mases 02:51, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I created an account. Name's alterreborn. Just send me an invite, or whatever it's called. lol Alter  {T C B H } 04:20, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I have added you, look forward to chatting with ya. Mases 17:47, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Sweetness! I'll be on later today. Alter  {T C B H } 17:54, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi Templates[]

Hello there! Just a quick note on welcoming new users to the wiki; I've noticed that recently you've used either the wrong template or incorrect formatting to do this. The correct (and only) way we should be using the welcome templates is:

{{Hello|<yourusernamehere>|}}

Don't worry, I had the same problem. It happens :)Mandi Talk 23:25, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks! I actually just took a peek at how someone else did it, and copied it. lol Maybe it was you a while back! ;) Alter  {T C B H } 23:28, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Wait a sec, that is how I did it... Isn't it? Alter  {T C B H } 23:29, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Sorry D: I was incorrect. The correct way to use the Hi Template is by typing: {{subst:hi|Alter}}. Sorry about that. Also, I see you have Skype. Would you mind if I added you?Mandi Talk 23:45, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
lol Ok. That explains it. Sure- I'd be glad to add you! I'm not on too much, but hey. :) Alter  {T C B H } 02:03, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Good job![]

I know that you hate my guts, but I just really wanted to compliment on your good work on the Insect Cavern article. It looks like you used my same formatting I've used for the Link's Awakening dungeon articles, which I really think should be used for some of the other dungeon articles we have as well. It is very good work indeed. The Goron Moron 05:10, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! I posted my reply on your talk page. (I'm putting this here so it doesn't look like I ignored you. ;) Alter  {T C B H } 17:03, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
