Template:LttPEnemies[]

Neo made a comment on Template talk:LttPEnemies that a similar template had been made in the past, and deemed to be unsuitable, and deleted. I think you should have addressed this concern before proceeding to deploy your new template across the wiki. It seems probable to me that you will be asked to revert all the edits that you have made. • Pete | 17:34, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Signature[]

Hey, for signatures, we don't make templates. What we do is make a subpage of our user space with the signature coding. For you, that page would be User:ShadowBroker44/sig. Just transfer your coding there and then make User:ShadowBroker44/sig2 with this: {{User:ShadowBroker44/sig}}. Once you do that, place in your signature box under your preferences: {{subst:User:ShadowBroker44/sig2}}

Enemies template[]

Hey!! We appreciate your willingness to improve the enemies template, but making such a huge change to a rather wide-used template without discussion is not recommended. Usually these things are talked and discussed and, once a consensus is reached, we go ahead and make the necessary changes to the template. I like what you're trying to do here, but maybe it would be better that, instead of having a HUGE template for all of the enemies in the Zelda series in each and every single enemy article, we could make one template for each game that has the enemies that are encountered in said game. What do you think? It's a nicer, neater, simpler and more compact approach than having one huge template that has 10+ templates within it. I had been thinking that the navigation for enemies could be improved, so I'd love to hear your feedback! See you around! Dany36 02:48, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Yeah...I know how frustrating it can be when we have to wait for a consensus to be reached... Trust me, I've been there and I share the thought, too, haha. Still though, just imagine how crazy this place would be if we all did things without waiting to see what other people thought about our ideas! But anyway, I'm not here to give you a sermon on how "patience is a virtue blah blah blah." You're right, though: the problem is easily solved by just splitting all of those "mini templates" into their own templates. I can only imagine how much time you spent making that template, so it would be awesome if we could implement it somehow. I'm no good at templates, so perhaps you could go ahead and split those up and carry on with what you were doing by adding each template into their respective games? Like I said, we really need to improve enemy navigation... :P Oh, and one last comment: we usually keep conversations in one talk page, that way we don't have to keep jumping back and forth between one talk page to another. Well the problem with splitting it up into mini templates for the individual games is that many enemies are included in more than one game, so we would have multiple templates cluttering up the page, where if we just used the one large one it would be a lot less messy. - S.B.44 [T] 03:32, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately, your template is...well, too big. I agree that it is comprehensive, but we already have the enemies category. I tried to make an individual enemy template awhile ago, but it was deleted as a consensus was reached against it. The best thing may be to just keep what there is: the common enemy template. We'll see what turns up in discussions, though. Dany wants new enemy navigation, so we're going to have a discussion about it, I'm sure :PJustin(Talk) 04:30, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Well I can agree to individual template use for by-the-games separation and the thing with templates is that they are on the page and easier to use than categories. They also have an impressive aesthetic effect. I personally like wikis that have templates for me to navigate with instead of categories. - S.B.44 [T] 21:54, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I consider myself passionately against "by-game-separations". An encyclopedia is supposed to be everything placed together for what it is.(I suppose this is an issue for my wiki philosophies thing) So I'm supportive of the idea of this. I missed the issue, not sure if I'll see it any time soon. But generally I think the enemy templates should be by families. For instance, the octorok and darknuts are really nothing at all alike, so no point really in having them in the same enemy templates; despite appearing in the same game. I've been wanting to do something about this before, but never had time to undertake it, then the See-Also section thing came up, and now it seems more urgent. I haven't heard from Jeangabin, but see if he's willing to help you sort em out and implement the edits. I suppose a master page could serve as a base of operations so when I have more time I can check it all out. Zelda Wiki.org:Enemy Sortings or something. Include each enemy name, in a column formatted or sortable table and a link to the template for the "families". Well that was the plan I had in mind when I was going to do it, I suppose it would be a good start. People like to be able to see the whole thing at once to consent to changes.
