Protected Pages Requiring Editing

This section is to be used to request the editing or correcting of a protected page. Requesting this here is faster and more likely to be noticed by an admin.
Note to admins: It would be best to never archive this section.

As you may have noticed from the Recent Changes, I corrected many links linking to the Twilight Princess disambiguation page. I'm sort of a perfectionist, so I like to be thorough. It was already agreed upon that fixing these links on talk pages and user pages will help those users to remember how to correctly link to the respective page. There are still four pages left to be fixed at Pages that link to Twilight Princess. The one on the talk page stays because it is clearly said that that link is a link to the disambiguation page. The two pages in the category Wiki Exclusives need their links to "The Legend of Zelda series" corrected to "The Legend of Zelda (Series)".—Matt ^(T C F S) 17:39, August 13, 2008 (UTC)

Too many new users sign their posts wrong. They do something like this:

No offense to anyone that has done this, but I'm getting sick of explaining it every time. One solution is to edit this page and add detail instructions on how not to make this mistake. We could use bold letters, underlining, bright and contrasting colors, etc. to make it impossible not to notice it.—Matt ^(T C F S) 22:09, September 21, 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyrighting

I recently changed the Mystery Seed image to be transparent like the other seeds on the Mystical Seed page, but I had to make a new page since the JPG version wouldn't go transparent. Since it isn't my image, and I didn't scan it in, it didn't seem right to take any sort of credit for it. The original image (the jpg) was cited as contributed by Yuvorias, and I didn't know what to do with the copyright/citing of the new image. So here I am...do I cite it to Yuvorias, myself, Nintendo, or can I just not cite it and leave it be? -Italiangenius91 (T C) 02:55, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

The way it's set up, is that if you "significantly" change the image, it should be put under your name. Do you think you made substantial changes? I'd ask him what he thinks on his talk page, if I were you.

This may be Internet Explorer related. My computer offers Firefox and IE, and I much prefer Firefox. If you're using IE, I suggest you research a Firefox download. The site will run much more smoothly, as it was designed by and for Firefox. IE creates all sorts of problems.-Neo^{(U) (T) (C) (Home)} 12:35, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Music?

Could it be possible for this Wiki to incorporate music files on ocarina song pages, or in general? I believe music clips from the actual games (used only for articles that necessitate it, like Requiem of Spirit or even the Twilight Princess theme to Hyrule Field) would add another dimension to the site, create extra interest, and fully-involve the reader along with the visuals and text already in the article. They could even be referenced and attributed - like they are on Wikipedia itself. Good idea? —Cipriano119 ^{< T >} 03:37, 27 October, 2009 (UTC)

It's certainly a possibility. Not sure how feasible or legal it is, but it's something we can look into. --Xizor 05:45, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

We had something similar to this a while ago on the Midna article, using YouTube audio-only clips in the article. Also, you'll find that most articles in the Songs category have a link with "listen to/play this song". If you were thinking of something more "integrated", we could talk about (and investigate implementing) an embedded MP3 player in articles. For the actual audio files themselves, I think we'd prefer to use externally hosted files. Not only does this minimise the amount of disk space the wiki uses, but it transfers the question of legality to the site(s) hosting the files instead of us ;) —Adam ^{[ talk ]} 12:52, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Take a look at Deku Temple page. It works, but I think a small mp3 player would better suffice. Less clutter, more simplistic, etc. Anyway, I think it's a good idea. —Alter 15:59, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

Yea, I was thinking about something a bit more integrated - yes, like a small mp3 player directly in the article itself! At that point, they could read about what went into the song/its importance and listen to it at the same time, without looking at some YouTube video distraction. The link to the Deku Temple page is broken btw :( How would we go about doing the mp3 thing?

Not only would it create a valuable interface, but it would increase the number of new pages dedicated only to theme songs, temple songs, intro/credits overtures, and in-game fanfare that would appeal to those wishing to find game music as well as factual info on the games. —Cipriano119 ^{< T >} 05:31, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Majora's Mask Glitch Page and Private video?

I just noticed that the first video on the Majora's Mask Glitch page is a private youtube video and therefore unviewable by the public. Can/should this be changed or removed? Thanks. --Kidbrock9 13:33, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for letting us know! I've contacted the person who added the video to that page in the first place, because if it's his own video, then he can make it public. Otherwise, if it's not his video, it will be taken off the page. Lysia 14:24, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

What Happened to the Article Count?!

The article count has dropped over 100 articles! What happened? Did someone replace the {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}} with just a number? Or did we lose articles? Or perhaps it no longer includes pages which only redirect to another page?-Neo^{(U) (T) (C) (Home)} 21:39, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps the merges that have taken place have something to do with that, but that's not a bad thing. Quality trumps quantity in my book. If it means slightly decreasing the number of articles to merge small ones into larger, more substantial articles, I don't see anything wrong with it. We'll have a lot of new ones coming with Spirit Tracks too I'm sure. Link87 22:06, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm not exactly sure on the details, but all of the articles that pertain to the Community (for example, Zelda Dungeon, Zelda Universe, etc) aren't accounted for anymore when it comes to the total article count, which is better, since that way we have a more accurate count. ;p Dany36 03:12, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

We made an announcement on the Main Page :D But like Dany says alot of the websites had articles that really ought not have been a part of the count. Also ZW specific pages also are not a part of the count. This move was more like making our Article Count honest. And we can begin cleaning up those community pages- merging all of the ZU memes into a single page for one. Axiomist (talk) 03:23, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
