Zelda Wiki.org:Pieces of Heart
From Zelda Wiki.org
Pick up some pieces of heart that have been lying around. More often than not those things are good quick fixes. We've got plenty laying around in this archive, so please take your pick of anything you'd like. (This is the archive of The Heart Container, ZW.org's community problem and discussion center, and Hyrule Castle, the bug reporting and feedback section.)

Sandbox
Can a somebody add the sandbox, the character page and the Trouble Center to the navigation box.--Link hero of light 18:38, 18 January 2008 (EST)
- This page and sandbox added. I'm not convinced that the Zelda Wiki.org:Character Page has any real value or purpose. --Adam (talk) 18:53, 18 January 2008 (EST)
Plumm
Can someone find or take a picture of Plumm and add it to his page. I've looked every where but I just can't seem to find one.--Link hero of light 21:58, 18 January 2008 (EST)
- Done. I can't resist a challenge, and this... wasn't one. Found it in less than 60 seconds on YouTube. Also, this is an article-specific problem and should have been posted here. Anyway, take your pick, and I'll delete the unused ones:

Upload Dungeon Images?
Can someone upload images for the Dungeons in Phantom Hourglass so that its dungeon page can use the gallery format that the other dungeon pages use? --Hisak 15:05, 19 January 2008 (EST)
- Done. It would be nice if someone could do the same for the Minish Cap dungeons, since only the Palace of Winds has a proper image. --Adam (talk) 16:57, 19 January 2008 (EST)

Archive for Problems
Can we have a Problem Center archive or something similar so we don't have to look through the history to see previous problems? --Hisak 22:33, 19 January 2008 (EST)

Reference Desk
We have Hyrule Castle for wiki-related questions, can a place for zelda related questions be created? The two biggest wikis, Wikipedia and Wikitionary both have one. It would be neat if it could be called: Zora's Domain.--Link hero of light 20:15, 29 January 2008 (EST)
- Wouldn't questions of that nature just go in their respective talk pages? --Ando 20:41, 29 January 2008 (EST)
- It's a nice idea, and I can see why the Reference Desk would be useful at wikipedia, with the sheer amount of content. However, we're a small wiki and it's quite easy to find whatever content you may be looking for (and if it's not, then that should be identified and worked on). As such, I think Ando is right; any zelda-related questions should be dealt with via article/user talk pages. --Adam (talk) 07:39, 30 January 2008 (EST)
Well I was thinking more like "how do I get into the sacred grove" questions. Would a question like that belong on a talk page?--Link hero of light 20:40, 30 January 2008 (EST)
- No, it would belong on a messageboard at Gamefaqs! Just kidding (sort of) - first and foremost, this is and will always be an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough or a forum. For example, if I wanted a list of the location and method for obtaining every piece of heart in Majora's Mask, for example, I'd go here. I wouldn't ask that question on a talk page here; it's a class of information which (as I see it) doesn't belong here. Nor would I expect it to be the kind of information found at Wikipedia's Reference Desk (one specific statement stands out to me: "The reference desk will not give you answers for your homework, although we will try to help you out if there is a specific part of your homework you do not understand.") The distinction between help and information, although slight, is important. If anyone else disagrees with me, please do say so, as I'm under no illusions that my opinion is the only correct one! But for me, adding something of this nature would dilute the true purpose of the wiki, and give a false impression of what we are trying to achieve. --Adam (talk) 13:45, 31 January 2008 (EST)
- I agree with Adam here to an extent. While I think that a certain amount of "game help" on a page isn't out of the question, it shouldn't go too overboard with it. I think that stuff such as a listing of Pieces of Heart in an area's page (such as North Clock Town, an article to which I'm not biased towards at all) is totally fine, because that information is short, sweet, and within the realm of info of the wiki; but to me the information on the Piece of Heart page itself (in which there's a whole listing of the locations for Pieces of Heart in Twilight Princess) is a little overboard. --Ando 14:15, 31 January 2008 (EST)
- Slightly off-topic, but I've added some links to content at StrategyWiki (I forget where exactly, but basically anywhere you see this icon, other than game pages, which include it by default). In short, I think we can all agree that any extensive/comprehensive walkthrough-style lists don't really belong here, and this way our articles are more in keeping with the style of the wiki, while all the info is just a click away and still in wiki format. Neat, huh? --Adam (talk) 02:59, 11 February 2008 (EST)
Oracle of Ages/Seasons
Something I've been thinking about for a while. If someone clicks on Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons, they're taken to that game's page. I was thinking that maybe the two pages should be a disambiguation page linking to the game and game's respective Oracle. That way, anyone looking for the oracle as opposed to the game could find her. I would have just done it, but this would require any link to "Oracle of Ages/Seasons" to be rewritten to the full "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of X", so I figure it's too big a decision to just do it. Thoughts? --Ando 16:42, 8 February 2008 (EST)
- You mean it doesn't already do that? I was already "correcting" that in all the Oracle pages I've edited because I assumed it was a disamb page already... So of course, I agree. --Douken 16:56, 8 February 2008 (EST)
- A large part of the list is composed of Magic Rings, so I'll continue work on those. --Douken 08:06, 9 February 2008 (EST)
Awesome. I've started work on that, as anyone who's looked at the Recent Changes page knows. :P Just remember: anyone doing this, mark the edits as minor so that anyone who doesn't want to see three pages full of link fixes can "Hide minor edits". --Ando 17:54, 10 February 2008 (EST)
While we're editing a bunch of OoA/OoS articles anyway, add the "Placed in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (or Ages)" category to any uncategorized locations. --Douken 18:14, 10 February 2008 (EST)
Hey, yeah. And I guess any other categories necessary ("characters in oox", "enemies in oox", etc.). --Ando 18:35, 10 February 2008 (EST)
- Nice job guys! I guess at some point something similar will need to be done for the other games (i.e. creating properly formatted piped links). But for now, I'd say that you deserve a rest! --Adam (talk) 02:59, 11 February 2008 (EST)
Reference Standardizing
I think we need to standardize the format in which references appear. Some of them appear as such:
- "My name is Ando. For reals." -Andoman (Zelda Wiki)
Others like this:
- No, seriously, you guys. Ando. S'true. -Andoman (The Legend of Zelda: Zelda Wiki)
Amongst many other variations with varying amounts of italics and piped links and quotation marks. My personal favorite method of doing it is
- "IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME I WILL PUNCH YOU." - Andoman (Zelda Wiki)
But we need a standardized method of doing this so that the wiki doesn't actually look like 100 different people wrote it. Ideas? --Ando 17:08, 11 February 2008 (EST)
- Yeah, you have a point... Personally, I think it should be:
- "Hadouken." -Ryu (Zelda Wiki)
- That seems to be the format most official sources I've read use, and it provides more of a barrier between the quote itself and whoever said it. --Douken 17:25, 11 February 2008 (EST)
- Hm... I approve of that particular format. Well then, I suppose that as we come across quotes from now on we should modify them to fit this format? --Ando 21:00, 11 February 2008 (EST)
Interesting... Think there's any way to get maybe a standardized reference coding going on (maybe something like "Quote", wherein the italics and elongated hyphen might be added by the Wiki software)? If so, sounds like it could be a plan. --Ando 11:14, 12 February 2008 (EST)
- That's already the format used by the quote template I mentioned above, i.e it italicises the quoted text and adds the elongated hyphen. The only difference is that it doesn't format/link the text in "B" (game/person), and places it on the line below the quote itself. I guess maybe I could make another quote template which formats the text exactly as agreed above, but it still couldn't be used for every quote; those which are used inside <ref> tags mess up the formatting of the references section if the quote template is used, so they'd still need to be formatted manually unfortunately. —Adam (talk) 15:09, 12 February 2008 (EST)
Dang. How to add the longer hyphen then (easily, at least; I highly doubt many people are going to search the site for the longer hyphen then copy and paste)? --Ando 17:41, 12 February 2008 (EST)
- I just created a new template to do it. Just add (that's a single standard hyphen between two curly brackets/braces) and it will substitute the long hyphen. Hopefully that shouldn't cause any formatting concerns :) --—Adam (talk) 01:55, 13 February 2008 (EST)
Excellent. Will do from now on. --Ando 12:16, 13 February 2008 (EST)
- I've gone a step further and written a new template. Cite does all the formatting, and automatically creates the game and speaker links. It's quite spefific, but it should work well within <ref> tags. —Adam (talk) 16:57, 13 February 2008 (EST)
Logo
If you go to Yahoo's homepage, there is a red Y up in the website address bar. Or in Google's case, a G. Wikipedia has their logo in the box too. I know this is used only for major sites, but I thought it would be cool if the E in Zeldawiki's address box could be replaced with ZW.org's logo. Tell me if I confused you.--Link hero of light 21:31, 12 February 2008 (EST)
- Actually, there SHOULD be already one uploaded and working. I have no idea why it's not, but it's already there. It's just... not working. Which is very weird. --Jase 07:28, 13 February 2008 (EST)
Merging pages
First of all, this is a really great idea. I've been in this community barely a month and I already felt there was a need for a talk page about problems of the whole wiki.
Ok, so now, the problem: there are many different pages that should be really the same page. I'm in the process of merging them (Bombs so far, and halfway through Potions), but I haven't had much time since I came back to school, and plus, my keyboard doesn't always cooperate, making it a lot more difficult. So while I probably will end up doing some of those, I put them here so people an find out and fix them too, since problems like these are hard to find (I've found most through moments of boredom, while I click on 'Random Page' endlessly, lol.)
So, here are some of the multiple pages to be merged I've found:
-
Picto Box - Pictograph box, Pictobox, Deluxe Picto Box, and Pictograph. -
Outset Island - Aryll's Lookout and arguably Fairy Forest (there's not much to talk about it on its own, although it technically is a separate area in the game). -
Dragon Roost Island - Dragon Roost Pond, and arguably the Wind Shrine (not much to talk about either). -
Triangle Isles - Technically different places, but similar in function, and they all have almost nothing to talk about: Eastern Triangle Island, Southern Triangle Island, and Northern Triangle Island. -
Ordon Village and Ordon Ranch -
Korok, Korok Ceremony and all other non-important Koroks (everyone but Makar and arguably Hollo): Irch, Olivio, Oakin, etc.
Phew, that was a lot, though there are probably more. Anyway, IMO you can't make a good page without much to talk about, so merging these multiple empty pages will end up in fewer good pages. Quality vs. quantity, basically. -Memo326 20:30, 20 January 2008 (EST)
- I don't know if Ordon Village and Ordon Ranch should be merged. From what I can remember, the Ranch is never actually said to actually be a part of Ordon Village. --Hisak 22:24, 20 January 2008 (EST)
- I think for the islands, like Outset and Dragon Roost, there should be a section for landmarks. And then they should just simply state them. The Triangle Isles should be merged into one page as well.--Green 12:34, 21 January 2008 (EST)
- I don't think the Triangle Isles should be merged due to the fact that they are three seperate islandsand aren't even anywher close to each other. They all take different pearls, and I believe there's a Korok and a wilted Deku Sprout on one of them. I don't think Fairy Forest or Aryll's Lookout should be merged because they're different places that actually have a purpose in the game and are part of the storyline. Green's idea is pretty good though. Ordon Ranch and Ordon Village definitely should not merged. I think Pictobox and Pictograph box should should be merged.--Icytriforc 21:03, 22 January 2008 (EST)
- I agree, Green's suggestion is a good one. With that in mind, I'd agree with the Outset and Dragon Roost merges. Also definitely yes to Picto___ (I was gonna do that myself, but not sure under what title?) Less sure about the rest, but if done properly it could work. Maybe a discussion is needed at Talk:Picto Box about format/structure? --Adam (talk) 15:56, 23 January 2008 (EST)
- Ok, I've merged the picto pages under Pictography; not entirely happy with it yet, it's sort of a work-in-progress. Now that most of the above has been completed, maybe it's time to turn our attention to the other articles to be merged? —Adam (talk) 18:13, 23 February 2008 (EST)
- I've merged all of the Triangle Isles pages. Turning my attention now to the other articles to be merged. --Ando (Talk) 09:31, 27 February 2008 (EST)
Huge Galleries
Articles such as Midna have giant galleries. I'm always wary of these types of things getting big because there are (although not many) users who still have slower connections, plus the galleries take up a lot of space. I think something for pages with galleries like these should be given the treatment that Link got, and have their galleries moved to a separate page. --Jase 21:35, 23 January 2008 (EST)
I did it for Midna.--Link hero of light 23:46, 23 January 2008 (EST)
Soul Calibur II and the CD-i games
I know that they aren't "technically" Zelda games, but I think that we should be giving Soul Calibur II and the CD-i games the same amount attention we've (I've) been giving the Smash Bros. games. If there's anyone with extensive knowledge of any of these games, could you create/improve pages for the characters and locations of these games? --Hisak 00:23, 10 February 2008 (EST)
- I agree. I don't really focus on the non-canon Zelda info myself, plus I highly doubt anyone here actually has any of the CD-i games... The main reason I don't mess with the non-Zelda pages is because I don't necessarily agree with the Wiki's policies on non-Zelda content (full pages on Mario, Lucario, etc.? seriously?), so I probably wouldn't be good for that. Anyone else could, though. :P --Ando 16:56, 10 February 2008 (EST)
- Did you know that, other than a site in french, were one of the only sources of information on the internet for the CD-i games (outside of wikipedia)? Yes, they're horrendously badly made, and the information in them isn't canon, and they're not part of the series... but surely denying their existence is censorship? A lot of the stuff we have didn't even exist a year ago, but I did some research (during which I laughed a lot. And died inside a little...) and created some basic info. Others have added information on the key characters, but it certainly needs to be improved. I may create a small template to link all the pages. (P.S. I know zero about Soul Calibur, so I can't comment). --Adam (talk) 02:59, 11 February 2008 (EST)
- Maybe I should re-phrase my statement. I really only don't focus on non-canon content because I don't own any of the games. If I owned the games I'd be editing up a storm, believe me, but those things are expensive and I just don't have the funds.
- May... maybe if anyone is willing to donate to the "Ando Wants the CD-i Games" fund? :D I'd buy 'em in a heartbeat. I've been wanting to play them anyway. :P--Ando 12:49, 11 February 2008 (EST)
- Understood. Word of warning though; heed the advice of the french guy I mentioned, given here in the conclusion. The games and consoles are horrendously expensive, and looking at the videos on youtube I don't think anyone could honestly enjoy playing these games? --Adam (talk) 14:00, 11 February 2008 (EST)
Well actually, someone on amazon gave the Wand of Gamelon 4 stars[1]. But I agree, Soul Calibur and the CDi games should be given attention. I also think that The Legend of Zelda games template should have a new section called "Philips CD-i games", then under it have the Wand of Gamelon, Zelda's adventure and the Faces of Evil. But I can't be of much help on giving the articles attention, I don't own the games you see. :-(--Link hero of light 18:48, 12 February 2008 (EST)
the cdi games should be merged with sc 2 to a non cannon article----—Preceding unsigned comment added by Onilink911 00:49, 17 March 2008
- Not really, no. The CD-i games are totally separate games. While not canon, they most certainly are their own Zelda games, and deserve their own pages. Otherwise you could justify putting Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons into the same page, yes? --Ando (Talk) 13:53, 23 March 2008 (EDT)
Questions
I'm probably just stupid, but I didn't find anywere were I could post my question. My question was wether or not you would like me to expand your SSB, SSBM and SSBB pages. But my current question is, were should I post this question?
I'm sorry for postign this in the wrong place and probably waste your time. --Kohake 23:58, 30 March 2008
- Hey, it's cool, don't worry about being stupid. ;) Anyway, absolutely; you don't need to ask permission to edit a page. That's the very core of what a Wiki is: a compendium of information that can be modified and contributed to by anyone. So if the main pages for those games could be fleshed out (we've been having issues with the pages being nothing but lists), that would be awesome. Just be sure to keep it within the realm of Zelda Wiki's non-Zelda content policies, and you should be good.
- (P.S. Hyrule Castle is for questions related to how-to-use-the-wiki; The Heart Container is for overall major article questions.) --Ando (T : C) 21:37, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
My question was acutally where such a question as min should be posted, and yeah I know how a Wiki works, I just wanted to know if it was a good idea since I could wirte a bunch of text about every singel character but I didn't want to fill pages with info which wouldn't belong on a Zelda Wiki. I am pleased with the answers you gave though. Thank you. --Kohake 17:42, 31 March 2008
Spoilers
I was going to write the new characters for SSBB that were related to the Zelda games when I started thinking, "is it okay to spoil the unlockable characters". I mean, if it was was one of the older Zelda games I wouldn't worry, but since it's A new game and very many haven't got the game but are planning to do so. Should I write the unlockable characters or atleast wait untill it's realeasd in Europe. --Kohake 18:00, 31 March 2008
- Absolutely add the unlockable characters. The Wiki is around to provide all the information is possibly can, not to wait around until it is convenient for others. Plus, we have the nifty spoiler tag that can be used to notify someone of an oncoming spoiler. --Ando (T : C) 01:08, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
Image Stuff
I really must get 'round to writing some kinda manual to all the procedures in this place... but until I have a spare week I'll dump this here so it can be found later :) --Adamcox82 19:45, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

- PART TWO: ADDING THE IMAGES TO A PAGE ON A WIKI, BECAUSE THAT IS WHY YOU UPLOADED IT
- Begin editing the page in question.
- Throw in the page where you think it should go.
- Be sure to use "Show preview" before saving the page, to make sure that the image is appearing correctly.
- And THAT should be it. --Ando (T) 20:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, ONE more quick question. Where do we denote it as a found image? I was reading the templates and such.Axiomist 20:46, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, me here, and here's (yes a knockoff from Ando, but)

Clear up images
Can someone clear up these images so their not so blurry--Link hero of light 19:49, 3 March 2008 (EST)

Oshus picture
Could someone please find a picture of Oshus in his whale form as i have looked every where like youtube and everywhere--Zanramon 17:46, 7 March 2008 (EST)
Here. I found it at Zelda Dungeon.- Also, you can't have looked very hard on YouTube... typed "phantom hourglass ending" and this was the first result I looked at:
I know but i was on the co.uk one--Zanramon 06:44, 8 March 2008 (EST) still good though
Ocarina of Time Dungeon Images
Can someone add images for the entrances to the Dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time so that the page doesn't just have maps? It would keep it consistent with the other dungeon listings. --Hisak 20:24, 8 March 2008 (EST)
- Alright, before I get started on this, exactly what do you mean by "entrances"; the actual entrance of the dungeon, or the text that appears the first time you enter it stating the name of the dungeon (much like the Inside the Deku Tree image on the page you provided)? --Ando (Talk) 09:47, 9 March 2008 (EDT)
- The cutscene that appears when you first enter the dungeon. --Hisak 19:39, 16 March 2008 (EDT)
Aye, sorry I missed this earlier (a lack of a good, constant computer made checking the wiki quite a chore!), but I think I can work on getting some more pictures on here for the various dungeons. --Ando (Talk) 17:44, 22 March 2008 (EDT)
I've started taking some. They aren't that big because of the program I'm using for taking pictures. Does anyone know a better image capturer? I'm using the free version of fraps FYI.--Green 22:34, 22 March 2008 (EDT)
- What emulator are you using? Project64 has a built-in screenshot capture tool (utilized by hitting F3). The screenshots are saved in whatever resolution the game is running at (it's what I used for the Majora's Mask pictures I've uploaded such as this one). --Ando (T : C) 15:35, 24 March 2008 (EDT)
- Oh! I also use Project64 I don't really user emulators so I don't know much about them. Thanks and sorry for the late reply.--Green 21:01, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- I could also take some Pics from the entrances(I have also a good amount of boss-pics from OoT and MM). --DarQness 21:45, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- I've got a load of good pictures, but I don't know how to upload or put them on the OoT Dungeons page. Any help? -Duckinabox 21:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
soulcalibur
Could someone start making articles for soulcalibur II characters. The wiki has articles for smash characters, we should have soulcalibur characters. Oh and just a question. Is soulcalibur considered canon?--Link hero of light 22:20, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- SOULCALIBUR is definitely not considered canon. Also, getting SOULCALIBUR articles to be made is dependent on people actually owning the game, much the same as the CD-i games. --Ando (T) 22:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I own both SSBB and Soul Calibur II, but I don't think that SSBB should have the information or articles it has, and am quite content with where the Soul Calibur articles are: the game has an article, Link's role in it is discussed, and brief mentions are made on other articles where appropriate (the last is actually lacking, but as soon as we can decide on terminology for certain things, I can change that). I think that, rather than try and increase Soul Calibur II articles and content to match SSBB, we should downsize SSBB articles to match Soul Calibur. I also think that all SSB game articles (orginal, melee, and brawl, should be put into ne article together) Also of note is that while SSB series is a mix mash of characters from different games, and we can limit the data to only relevent info for SSBB, Soul Calibur II contains, besides Link, all original characters, who have extremely detailed backstory's and information, as well as several different forms of development. If we bring every bit of info from every game Link makes an appearance in as a playable character, we will run into problems. My argument in short is: In the long run, we should focus on the Zelda series, not every cameo/playable character game with a zelda character in it and mention everyone else who appears in the game in detail. PS, if you've never played Soul Calibur II, I am not exagerating at all when I say extremely detailed backstory. We would have Minda sized articles for every character.--Magnus orion 00:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree with some of what you said. We should feature mainly zelda, but Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Sheik and Toon Link have all appeared playable people in the smash games, therefore, articles about the characters that appear alongside them should be here.--Link hero of light 00:29, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, Can I take a different perspective on this. This is a zelda wiki. We feature Zelda game content. Now lets say there was a super smash wiki (there is). What do they feature. Super Smash content. They would not feature everything in this Wiki just because Link appears in these games too as well as Super Smash, would they? If this were a soul calibur wiki, would we put in this entire wiki just because Link appears in one of our games? NO!. We give an article to link, talking about him and where he comes from. We do not attach to it every other character from every other game Link appears in! We may give an article to the legend of zelda series, but thats it. So this is a Zelda wiki... We give articles to games with conections to Zelda, and thats it. We do not move all information related to the games with connections to Zelda into this wiki. Basically, by putting the SSB articles in here, we are turning it from Zeldawiki.org to Zelda/SuperSmashBrosWiki.org!--Magnus orion 00:37, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- But you have to remember, though, that Smash Bros. isn't just connected to Zelda -- Brawl features four playable Zelda characters, several stages, and TONS of Zelda music. And most of the Smash-character articles only feature information as it relates to Zelda. Such as Mario's encounters with Link, Peach with Sheik, etc. Characters that have no relation to Zelda at all (Sonic, amongst others) should be given only the barest mention with a link to their Wikipedia article using the whatever template. --Ando (T) 03:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
There's 6 zelda characters in the smash series. ;).--Link hero of light 03:34, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, yeah, if you count Sheik. And Young Link, but that was Melee. --Ando (T) 03:46, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- But, all that information could be put in a smash bros article, or, if necessary, a subspace emisarry article. It doesn't require a mario article be created, does it?--Magnus orion 04:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Also, is this article necessary for the zelda wiki: pichu? How does this show any relation to Link in any SSB games? These articles should all be merged. These characters do not need there own individual articles on a Zelda wiki. Also, I've thought about what you have said and tried to apply it to soul calibur. Unfortunately, even the adventure mode boils down to combat with random characters, and no one really has any relation with the guest star character. Its either all or none for the characters of soul calibur, and I vote none.--Magnus orion 04:46, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I haven't played much of Soulcalibur II, but I think it's a different case than SSB. Apparently, like Magnus said, Link is presented as a guest character in SCII, and so it shouldn't get very much mention. But he's a main playable character in all three SSB games, so I think those games deserve attention. The character and stage pages shouldn't go into too much detail beyond their appearances in SSB (the Dr. Mario stage, for example, has too much information). If we do decide to cover SCII, we shouldn't cover any of the other Soulcalibur games, and we shouldn't cover any games with Zelda-related cameos, like Super Mario RPG or WarioWare. But the appearances SSB are definitely not cameos, and shouldn't be treated like they are. --Hisak 19:09, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
picture block
| Related issues |
|---|
Wikipedia has something similar to this, but because certain pictures on the site offend various users. A block could be set up that would not allow users to see the certain pictures mentioned above. Of corse, people would have the choice wether they would want a block or not, after all some people find the pictures funny. Does anybody agree with me?--Link hero of light 00:33, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, there are pictures in the wiki that have no reason being here whatsoever. Some are offensive, yes, but just saying that no one will come across them because there is no links to them isn't enough. There is a random page and a random image
button to the left on the wiki. These can take you to any page (except user ones and talks, as far as I know) or any image. Please reread the italicized text again, provided for you to the right of this sentence for your convience, so that the general flow of reading right to left is maintained: any image. Please note the "any", meaning every single image on the wiki is open to be acessed through that link. Therefore, there is no links to them argument for images is wrong. These images really don't belong on this wiki and are offensive, predjudice (esp. sexist), or advertising in nature and are really degrading. The fact is, like the argument for the ssbb articles above, they have no place on this wiki. This is Zeldawiki.org, not Zelda/offensiveimagery.org. I also think that the misc. section is fine, so long as it maintains its inoffesiveness.--Magnus orion 00:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
I can't understand what you are saying to me. Are you telling me that the pictures should be removed entirely, a block should be set up or the pictures should stay. Also what do you mean by the random image thing. Don't worry though, some have my posts have been complicated to read to. ;).--Link hero of light 01:05, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
We mean, that a picture block is a good idea, since they should be there, but to not offend anybody who has no business seeing it. The random image is that there Is a link to all the pics. That link! --David (T : C) 01:11, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I mean that, while blocking is a good idea, the images rather should be removed, as they really aren't contibuting to an encyclopedia. On the left bar of the wiki, there are a bunch of yellow links. Random image takes you to what it says, a random image. It has been claimed in the past that these images aren't important or needing to be worried about since nothing links to them. I am simply pointing out that this is not true. Random image does link to them, so anyone claiming that there is nothing linked to the images is wrong.--Magnus orion 04:27, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
The Horror
There is no page on Wikipedia about ZeldaWiki.org!!! I feel that people from here should make it. Who else has an account set up on Wikipedia? --Matt 03:07, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, Wikipedia's notability guidelines state that (last time I looked at them) a site be referenced and featured on AT LEAST two other, major, notable, trustworthy sites. Zelda Wiki is not as far as I know. So an article would most likely be deleted immediately. The same happened with Flash Flash Revolution, and that site's been around for over five years. --Ando 04:29, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's not the end of the world tho. If you managed to get Nintendo Power to feature an article on Zelda wiki, well a whole can of worms would be opened. I'd just send in something about it on paper. I mean they print stuff about cosplaying all the time and that's an individualistic topic.Axiomist 04:43, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Let's do what ever it takes to do this. A few Wikipedia articles use ZeldaWiki.org as a reference anyway. Three sites on the top 50 search results for "Legend of Zelda" are: www.zeldadungeon.net, www.zeldalegends.net, www.zeldauniverse.net. That's two. That is enough for the notability requirement.--Matt 05:14, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- I've seen Wikipedia articles use Google ranks as a statement. Lately, I've been watching the article count on the main page here, it seems to drop more often than increase. But how does Zeldawiki.org compare to other wikis. With Wikipedia obviously at #1.-curiousAxiomist 05:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Lately, the article drops have been do to the merging of articles. Now, we're running low on articles to be merged. The recently created articles for Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland have replaced most of what was lost. To compare Wikipedia with ZeldaWiki.org use this and this.--Matt 05:29, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
The Battlestar Wiki has a page. It has about a thousand more articles than we do. However, that wiki has a ton of really short pages (around two-thirds of the total) that should be merged. So we are the the better wiki.--Matt 06:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure what "being the better Wiki" has to do with it at all. I really don't see why you consider this such a big issue. :/
- Wikipedia's Notability Guidelines state that something must be covered in reliable secondary sources INDEPENDENT OF the topic. Meaning, any of the owner sites are not acceptable sources, because they aren't independent of the Wiki.
- Likewise, the web-specific guidelines state that "For material published on the web to have its own article in Wikipedia, it should be notable and of historical significance." Zelda Wiki is not, at least by Wikipedia standards, either of these things.
- That's primarily why I don't see this working. --Ando 16:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm with Ando on this. Does it really matter to any of us what the world at large thinks about this place? Not to me. I don't feel the need for some kind of "fan page" on Wikipedia (which, for reference, is not the fountain of all world knowledge. It's just a website - albeit quite a popular one - that's only been around for 7 years!). I certainly don't care what arbitrary monetary value some quasi-intelligent machine somewhere may assign to this domain, or any other - the only opinions I listen to are those of other sentient beings ;) --Adamcox82 18:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Is there a page here just about the history of this site then? As far as I can tell, most of the information is scattered around on several pages.
I know that the monetary value in that comparison has no real meaning. I thought that the amount it gave us was a little funny. I was more concerned with the real stats on the left side of those pages -- the page ranks and such.--Matt 18:27, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Matt: Zelda Wiki.org. --Ando 18:37, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's a little too short. It doesn't really do this site justice.--Matt 18:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Character merging
I don't think that characters from the CD-i games should have their own pages (other thank Link and Zelda, and maybe the king, so the ones that appear in other games). I'd suggest that we make a "Characters in CD-i games" page to include any known characters from all three games. --Adamcox82 17:31, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- That would better than one for each character. Maybe we should do something like this for some of the SSB characters. Like characters from certain origin on one character page. Like one for Mario, one for Starfox, one for Pokemon, etc. These individual non-Zelda to semi-Zelda characters pages have got to stop.--Mjr162006 17:35, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think you may have hit on a really good idea here. There's long been a complaint that too much emphasis was given to the SSB content, and creating game-specific character sub-pages sounds like a really nice idea. This would also work like I said for all the CD-i characters. I sense a group project in the making ;) --Adamcox82 17:44, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- I believe adding "subst" would have been better than keeping a link to the talk page. Anyways, what about all these SSB stage articles? Should we merge those too? There are too many.--Mjr162006 13:40, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
The stage articles... Perhaps a giant "listing" sort of format (split up into several pages by the iteration of the series in which it appears) with a short description of each stage along with an image next to it? I can get images for every Super Smash Bros. level, and for most if not all of the Brawl stages. So basically we'd have three pages titled "Stages in Super Smash Bros.", and another for Melee and Brawl.
I agree with the idea of game-universe character pages. What would they be called? Something like "Mario characters in Super Smash Bros."?
Also, I have to say that I disagree with the idea of merging all of these CD-i character articles into one article. We've never stopped creating a separate article for every character before (we have articles on minor characters such as Anju's Mother, for crying out loud). A Zelda game is still Zelda, and I think needs to be covered in as much depth as we possibly can. Unless, of course, these characters have absolutely no depth, which is possible, considering its source. :P I've yet to own these games (HEAR THAT, EMPLOYERS WHO AREN'T HIRING ME?), and I'm pretty sure that NONE of us have these games, so covering them might be difficult for now. But perhaps in the future when someone CAN write more in-depth content we might split the characters with more information? --Ando 13:51, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well I remember someone here, it might have been Adam, saying that"like it or not the CD-I games where officially licensed by Nintendo." So that would mean that they each deserve a character page. We could still merge, just in four pages. One for characters in both, with links back to the main article, and three more page for game specific characters. Fair enough? Or something like that anyway.--Mjr162006 13:58, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
I like that idea of a listing for SSB stages. How about one page for all the stages in the SSB seriesm with the games divided into sections? ZeldaGirl96 15:18, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- An idea was brought up earlier (I believe by MARKOL) that we merge the stages into their respective games (i.e. three pages, each called "Stages in Super Smash Bros. [blank]"). The idea is that, well, a page listing all 70 or 80 stages or whatever we're at with pictures would be horrendously huge. —Ando (talk) 15:31, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
So we should divide them into games, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ZeldaGirl96 (talk) 13:24, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Dungeon Listing Template
I've been thinking about the dungeon listing pages (like Dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask), and I think we could do a lot more with them, such as include basic information like the boss, main item, etc. Of course, this would be easiest if there was a template for this. I had imagined that it would be in the following order: image (it would be the same size as it is now), dungeon name, location, main item, mini-boss (optional), and boss, with a "check box" at the end saying if it's optional or if it's considered a major dungeon. If someone can make a template like this, it would be greatly appreciated. Hisak 02:17, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- So... basically you want the current dungeon template with an "optional" spot as well? —Ando (talk) 03:25, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, not necessarily, Matt. This is a pretty simple job, actually. Basically copying and pasting the existing dungeon template and adding a field (and I HAVE added optional fields before, so I know how to do it). So it doesn't HAVE to be decided, like, right now. And even if you did have to do it, well, you'll be back in, what, three days? —Ando (talk) 03:38, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't mean modify the new template; I meant make a new template that can be used on the dungeons listing pages. One that looks something like this[1], except with a field to put an image in on the far left. Hisak 20:46, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ohhh. Well that's totally different then. Alright, I'll get on this, um, later. I'm really tired and sick and stuff so I'm going to sleep now. :P That's interesting how they did that. Make a new template that lists all of the dungeons and then just call the template. Very intriguing. —Ando (talk) 22:54, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I probably should have looked at the code before I posted that. It would look like that, but there'd still be empty fields for you to fill in. I guess this[2] would be a better example. Hisak 00:05, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Unknown Games
There are several pages (such as Bird Key) that show items, maps etc. without referencing a game title. I know I didn't give a lot of examples, but I have found more (just can't rember) pages like that, and they are very frustrating. Anyone who knows what game(s) the items, dungeons, maps etc. are from, please help!Poe 15:55, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, and welcome to the wiki! Unfortunately, you're absolutely right. There are too many articles which don't specify the game(s) to which they relate, and all efforts to rectify that are greatly appreciated. However, in the example you gave (and may others) the clues are all there in the links. The last sentence of Bird Key states "Using the Bird Key opens the entrance to the Eagle's Tower". Following the link gives the answer you seek :) —Adam [ talk ] 19:51, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, we recently got rid of the one category that did this (the now-deleted Category:Phantom Hourglass). It just doesn't seem like an overly useful idea when the article could just be slightly re-written to include the game name somewhere in there. Sort of like the image categorization proposed a few months back (I'm not sure if you were here for that): too much work tracking down each page, not enough gain. —Ando (talk) 03:48, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Newbies
Hi, I'm a sorta newbie to this web...I really want to edit my page, but what should I use? —Tetra princess zelda 03:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- What should you use? I'm not entirely sure what the question means... The best way to make your page is to click the red link that says your name, and then just add some information about yourself and save! You can look at other peoples' user pages to get ideas of other things you can use on yours. —Ando (talk) 03:48, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
ssb characters
Could someone merge all the assist trophys, bosses and pokemon's articles into Characters in Super Smash Bros. (series).--Link hero of light 17:52, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, there's only one remaining individual Pokemon article that I can find, and I've suggested that it be merged into the Characters page. We could do with merging the Assist Trophies into a single article, as well as all of the Enemies into another article. These should both be found in Category:Super Smash Bros. so it shouldn't be too hard for someone to complete a basic merge. —Adam [ talk ] 07:30, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to make an "Items in Super Smash Bros" page and as for the Bosses they can be placed in the "Non-Playable character" section on the character page (I'm going to remove Whispy Woods, he's a part of a stage, he doesn't fight). — [markol]
Midna pictures
Could someone take these pictures of Midna and remove the white around them so their background matches with the wiki's?--Link hero of light 17:29, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
I can do it. It may take a while, however. — [markol]

Userboxes
How do you make user boxes--Zanramon 13:25, 24 January 2008 (EST)
- To create a new userbox:
- 1. First, choose a name. This should always be (where xxxx is your description)
- 2. To create it, just edit any page (such as the Sandbox), type and preview. This will give you a redlink to your desired userbox template.
- 3. Then, just copy and paste the code from any other existing userbox. Substitute a new image, text, hex colour codes (help available here), and usage instructions. --Adam (talk) 11:44, 25 January 2008 (EST)
- 4. Make sure that the category is correct. It should be , (where aaaa is the first letter of your description) This correctly sorts the userboxes in the category.--Mjr162006 18:24, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Merging
How do you redirect/merge page? At first I thought only sysops could do it, but I've seen other non-sysop users do it.--Link hero of light 23:53, 12 February 2008 (EST)
- Merging two (or more) pages into one is actually quite simple:
- First, you should identify the articles which you want to combine, and ideally check that there is a general consensus from others that merging is a good idea (either the merge tag should be placed on the article beforehand, or the merge be discussed).
- The initial step of the merge itself is to identify which article is to remain (i.e. which of the articles you will merge all the information into). The other will later act as a redirect to this article. Usually, the smaller of the two articles will be merged into the larger, however if for example one article has an incorrect name, the one with the correct name would be retained. For simplicity, I'll call the article where the information will be merged to A, and the article which will be cleared to make a redirect B.
- After having decided step 2, the next step is to read all the information in A and B, and decide where and how the information in B should be inserted into A. It will normally have to be rephrased slightly, although sometimes it can simply be cut and pasted. It may be appropriate to place the merged information from B under it's own header within A. Try to avoid duplicating any information already within A.
- Once the information from B has been transferred to A, the final step is to delete all text from B and replace it with the syntax:
- #redirectArticle A
- This turns B into a redirect page. If the information added to A has been placed under a new header, it may be appropriate to point the redirect there:
- #redirectArticle A#New section title
- I hope I've explained clearly enough, please leave a comment here if you have any other specific queries. A good place to start merging would be the articles here, or in Category:Articles to be merged (as long as no objections have been raised on the relevant talk pages, it's safe to assume that everyone is happy for the merges suggested here to go ahead). —Adam (talk) 01:42, 13 February 2008 (EST)
The new game link templates
So... what exactly is the criteria under which these are used? Are we now to use these instead of piped links, or what? --Ando (Talk) 15:51, 7 March 2008 (EST)
- They're used to automatically generate exactly what you would type manually to create a piped link. For example, typing instead of Four Swords Adventures has the exact identical result, but you type only 13 characters instead of a whopping 73! Good time saver, no? (I got sick of hand typing these links a long time ago...) —Adam (talk) 16:12, 7 March 2008 (EST)
Alright, awesome. I guess I'll start utilizing these. :D --Ando (Talk) 16:16, 7 March 2008 (EST)
something strange
Something strange happened and I was wondering if someone could explain it. I attempted to flag a picture that was no longer in use for deletion. I saved and saw that everything looked fine. I was just checking the recent changes and I saw Captain Cornflake had deleted it, well there would be nothing strange about if my contribution had not been recorded in the recent changes and my cotributions, I even checked and made sure that I hadn't clicked the "hide my edits" button.--Link hero of light 23:46, 8 March 2008 (EST)
- When an article is deleted, all revisions to that article are also deleted. That's why they would disappear from Recent Changes. Does that clear it up? —Adam (talk) 07:18, 9 March 2008 (EDT)
Yep.--Link hero of light 11:31, 9 March 2008 (EDT)
Subdivision formatting
Many pages use subdivisions containing the name of one of the games, but many of these pages use different formats. Some pages don't italicise the game names, whereas some do; those two pages also demonstrate how some pages use the subdivisions to link to the games mentioned in the subdivisions, and others don't. My point is, this creates a great inconsistency throughout the Wiki, and needs to be addressed. I personally prefer just a straight-up, non-linked subdivision (most articles have a link to the game right under the subdivision anyway), italicised to match the rest of the mentions of the games. --Ando (Talk) 09:58, 9 March 2008 (EDT)
- I'm sure you and I aren't the only ones to have pondered this subject in the past. I've always had trouble myself deciding which of the many options I prefer; I don't think they should be links (as you point out, any correctly written article will reiterate the game name below the header, making a title link redundant), and I don't think it's necessary to use the full "The Legend of..." prefix. Am I reading correctly that the format you'd propose is as below? (If so, I would concur) —Adam (talk) 10:30, 9 March 2008 (EDT)

Tables
How do you make the tables that have an abbreviation of the game, times beaten, times started, and Greatest completion in the game that i see on some peoples user pages? --David (Talk) 18:25, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
- Well, the easiest way to do it is to just go to edit the user's page that you see one of these tables on, only instead of actually editing it, just copy the code for the table off of the page, then paste it onto your page, editing it as necessary. Tables start with {| and end with another }, so it should be easy to find. --Ando (T : C) 20:00, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

Okay, these problems are killing me! I was making changes to my user page, when all of the sudden, I notice that when I leave and come back, there is nothing changed on the user page, yet when I go to the editing box, all the changes are still there! Please help me! It's happening on other peoples user pages too! I can't see my edits or their edits on the talk page unless I click on edit! This is so annoying! Thank you for listening. --David (T : C) 15:20, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- This just happened to me too, but it wasn't on a user page. My last edit Ambi's Palace isn't showing on the main article, even though the history says it should (or rather, shouldn't) be there. Oddly, the Possessed Nayru link isn't working either, even though I've made that article since the shown edit of Ambi's Palace. --Douken 15:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for answering, Douken. The only way i can read what you wrote is by editing what i said. I think that we may have to make new accounts If we cannot get this straightened out. At least we'll be able to copy and paste our user pages onto new accounts ;). By the way, I had asked Jase the question, so we'll have to see what he says. --David (T : C) 15:54, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Image template thing
I'm not sure I understand about the new image template ting. I read what Jason said but I don't understand it. Could some one help?--Link hero of light 22:49, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Alright. Basically, what they are, are templates that let whoever's viewing the file know where the image comes from. There are three templates right now:
- The FoundImage template, which says that "We got this picture from such-and-such site" (preferably only Zelda Wiki sites).
- The c-nintendo template, which says that "This picture comes directly from Nintendo" (such as official screenshots, box art, etc.).
- The Imagenosource template, which says that "We don't know where we got this".
- Just pull up any image page that lacks a template and throw one in. We're also, I believe, working on a template for self-made images (screenshots that a user made, for instance), so that should be available soon, hopefully. --Ando (T : C) 04:36, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's pretty much it. Except that c-nintendo has to be on almost every image (excluding only the non-game-related stuff), i.e. every image containing Nintendo content in any form. Also, the wording of FoundImage applies only to extra-Wiki sites, so I guess we'll need another similar one for "Masterminds" images... Fear not, all will become clearer as it's put into practice, and once we have all templates set up I'll write an "idiot's guide" (excuse the phrase ;) to the whole thing! —Adam (talk) 06:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- But what if it's not by Nintendo, but by Phillips instead? For example, a picture of Ganon from Link: The Faces of Evil, which was produced by Phillips for the CD-i instead of by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo. Is it c-nintendo, because they invented the character, or ImageSelf, because I captured the image myself? —mrfunnyd 19:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Erm, both. It's a safe assumption that, for almost any image uploaded here, the legal copyright holder will be Nintendo. However, it's also important that the source of the image is attributed (i.e if it was obtained from another website or if you produced it yourself. That make sense? --Adamcox82 14:32, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Rules
Okay, here goes...
Every new image uploaded must be correctly attributed to its creator/editor/redistributor. There are four possible options when doing this, and a template for each:
- FoundImageZW - Applies to images taken from one of the sites connected to ZW.org.
- FoundImage - Applies to images taken from any other website.
- ImageSelf - Applies to images scanned/captured/photographed/drawn/photo-edited by yourself (in other words, "your own work", copyrights notwithstanding.)
- Imagenosource - Applies to images whose source is uncertain, unknown or currently undeterminable.
To correctly attribute your image, simply go to the image's page after upload, and add one of the above as appropriate, in the format name exactly as listed above
In addition, should the image depict any characters or elements of Zelda games, or other Nintendo games (including, but not limited to, all screenshots, artwork [official or otherwise] and symbols), you must also display the template c-nintendo. —Adam (talk) 20:51, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay I have just one more question, if you are positive you know that a picture was taken by someone other than yourself, may you add the Imageself template to the picture as long as it says that it was taken by the person who actually took it? Or does the person who took the picture have to add the template themselves?--Link hero of light 03:59, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to go ahead and add that Imageself template to a few pictures, tell me if I shouldn't.--Link hero of light 02:12, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Sound Clips
To help people know more about some pages, I think that Sound Clips should be used. For example, see the trivia section, point 4, the page Death Mountain for Twilight Princess. If someone could show me how to add a sound clip, i'd be greatful.
:-)

- Right. Well, I've never actually uploaded an audio file before... And there isn't actually an example of that happening on Zelda Wiki. In fact, it may actually need an extension we don't have (Jason would be the most likely to know that). I'd say that right now your best bet is to just link to another site's hosting of that particular audio file in the manner of Audio file from (website). An example can be found on Saria's Song. --Ando (T : C) 22:45, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Wanted Pages
I noticed that many of the links in the wanted pages have only the wanted pages link refering to them. Is it supposed to be like this?--Matt 20:14, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Um... what? If you're talking about all the wanted pages with "1 link" next to them, all that means is that only one other page on the site has a broken link to whatever the wanted link is; a page that isn't the Wanted Pages list. To see which pages have these red links, just click on the "x links" text. Is this what you're referring to? --Ando (T) 21:07, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- What he was referring to (as far as I can tell), is that, apparently, somewhere down the line someone decided to make a page called Wanted Pages This pages contains many links, some which are the only links of their kind. Because of this, many wanted pages site wanted pages as the only article that links to them.--Magnus orion 23:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes that is exactly what I'm saying.--Matt 11:59, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

- Yeah, that was me. It worked very well almost a year ago when I first made it, and the wiki had well over 1000 wanted pages. Now it's reached the end of its usefulness, and clearly a year on the links to many of the articles which had been listed on Special:Wantedpages no longer exist. For clarity, the original scenario was a list of many hundreds of articles with only one link. These were a mixture of valid Zelda content, irrelevant non-Zelda links and clogging talk pages. The goal was to elevate the valid Zelda wanted pages to 2 links, hence making them easier to find and create. Anyway, I can either recreate the page now based on the current Wanted Pages, or delete it entirely. —Adam (talk) 21:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia has...
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but wikipedia has got a new little gismo, so that while users type something into the search box, a little tab below, shows all the possibilities of what you could be wanting. It's hard to explain, but search for something at wikipedia.org, and you'll see what I mean. Now I have no idea what it would take, or cost to get that, but possibly a good edition to our wiki???...... --Melchizedek 08:49, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- This would be something to throw at Jason. I'll see what he has to say about it.--Ando (T) 22:22, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Cool. Thanks for that. Keep me in the loop, so I know what's going on, and can help in any way if wanted. Regards, --Melchizedek 06:56, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Is it alright
I got all my pictures from doing google image searches so I dont know the exact website their from. Is this alright or do I have to find out exactly where their from? --Heroofstuff 03:11 pm, May 1, 2008
- Well, it's highly respected that you find the websites that you took the image so you can properly give credit to the websites. We do this because unless it is part of the Zelda Wiki.org Collaboration, credit must be given to the website. Although we do have a template available if you can't find the website, it is generally better to give the credit. If you have anymore questions about anything, feel free to let me know on my Talk Page. --Seablue254 21:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Do you need anything?
Hello, I'm a pupil from Germany and I also worked in other German Zelda-Wikis but there are no big wikis in my language. I want to ask you how I can help this page. My English can be terrible, so I don't know if this is the right place to ask. Maybe I can find pictures for this page or translate texts. I would be very happy if I could help you Sirius 20:46, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Your English? Terrible? Hardly. Your English is better than quite a few native speakers I know, actually. And besides, even if you make a little mistake, someone else can fix it for you. It's no problem. ;)
- As for your question, I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're asking. Are you wanting to know if you can make a German-translated version of the wiki or just if it's okay for you to edit pages here? If so, go on ahead. Edit as much as you feel you can. Text, pictures, even little edits; anything is welcome and much desired.
- If you need anything else, let me know! --Ando 21:35, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hey there! Welcome to Zelda wiki! Now, I'm sure that Ando has explained many things to you and probably answered your question, BUT, if you were asking about help on this page only, it's fine, however, there will not be much action here. Anyway, if you have any more questions, tell us here, my talk page, or the Chatroom. Happy to help :) --Seablue254 22:02, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you so much! :) Writting German articles sounds good. I made a example on my discoussion-page ( http://zeldawiki.org/User_talk:Sirius ). Maybe I can look for articles which have no pictures, and make some for them. I'm very happy that you are so friendly, thank you :)—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirius (talk) 05:00
- OK. HOWEVER, considering this is an ENGLISH Wiki, you should try to write in English, however, in the event you try German, name the German translation "Name of article (German)", so that no one is confused :) --Seablue254 14:11, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay, thank you :) Sirius 14:18, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Uh... Sea, maybe not? I can't find where he actually said it, but I remember Jason stated before that it didn't seem necessary to have multi-language articles (I may be remembering incorrectly, but)... Sirius, you may want to bring this up with him on his talk page
