Mr. Write appears in Link's Awakening as a lonely letter-writer who sends countless letters to various people, but never gets any replies. It is from this endless writing one could assume he gets the name "Mr. Write".
He is part of the trading sequence in the game. Fittingly, the item Link delivers to him is a Letter from a resident of Animal Village. He gives Link a Broom in exchange, seemingly because he has nothing better to offer.
Trivia
- Mr. Write is likely based on an adviser in the original Sim City, who had a nearly-identical appearance and name, Dr. Wright.
- A similar character later appeared in Oracle of Seasons, going by the pun of a name Dr. Left.
- Dr. Left also a makes a returning appearance in The Minish Cap.
