In Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, a defeated Poe will drop its lamp onto the ground, revealing a Poe Soul encased within it. One of these can be snatched up in an Empty Bottle, but if left untouched for a dozen-or-so seconds, it will disappear. In Ocarina of Time, a trapped soul can be sold to the Poe Collector at the entrance of Hyrule Castle Town for 10 Rupees, or consumed. A consumed soul could either restore a part of Link's health or take away health until he only has a partial Heart Container remaining.
+
In OoT, a defeated Poe will drop its lamp to the ground, revealing a violet Poe Soul encased within, while a Big Poe will leave behind an orange Big Poe Soul. These can be snatched up in an empty Bottle, and will disappear if left untouched. Consuming either type of Poe Soul will randomly either restore a portion of Link's Hearts or deplete them until he only has a partial Heart remaining.

  +
Trapped souls can also be sold to the Poe Collector for 10 Rupees for a Poe Soul or 50 Rupees and 100 Points for a Big Poe Soul. If Link sells all 10 Big Poe Souls to the Poe Collector, he will reward him with an empty Bottle at 1,000 Points. The 10 Big Poes at Hyrule Field will only appear if adult Link is riding Epona and passes their spawn point. He must then shoot them down with the Bow to collect their souls.

  +
Rarer Big Poes drop more valuable souls the Collector will pay a larger sums for (50 Rupees), but the consumption effects of these souls appear the same. The Big Poes can only be found once Link is an adult and as he is traveling with Epona in Ocarina of Time. After Link defeats these ghosts, he must take their souls to the Poe Collector to receive, in addition to money, a score of 100 points. The Collector promises Link to give him something if 1000 points are earned, so the young hero must hunt 10 Big Poes in total and take the souls of each. The reward is a new Bottle. In Majora's Mask, defeating the Big Poe inside the Ikana Well allows Link to give its captured soul to a Gibdo to proceed.

In MM, defeated Poes also drop their lamps to the ground, revealing a Poe Soul encased within. They can also be snatched up in an empty Bottle, and will disappear if left untouched. Consuming either type of Poe Soul will cause the same effects as in Ocarina of Time. A single Big Poe can be found Beneath the Well in Ikana Canyon, which reveals a Big Poe Soul when defeated. The Big Poe Soul must be given to a Gibdo in order to proceed through the well. It can also be sold at the Curiosity Shop for 200 Rupees.

In Twilight Princess, Link can collect Poe Souls to receive various rewards from Jovani. There are 60 Poes in all spread around Hyrule. Poes can only be seen and defeated with Wolf Link's senses, so they cannot be obtained while Link is in his regular, humanoid form. Souls are now stored automatically in any amount on the menu's subscreen, and don't need bottles like they did in Ocarina of Time.
+
In TP, Link can collect up to 60 Poe Souls throughout Hyrule in order to remove the curse on Jovani. Poes can only be detected and defeated as Wolf Link. Collecting 20 Poe Souls for Jovani will lift part of his curse, earning Link a Bottle of Great Fairy's Tears, and the Ghost Lantern in TPHD. In Twilight Princess HD, the number of Poe Souls collected and remaining in each area is marked on the map screen. Collecting all 60 Poe Souls will completely lift Jovani's curse, rewarding Link with 200 Rupees each time he speaks to Gengle.

Tri Force Heroes
Collecting twenty souls for Jovani will net Link a Bottle of Fairy Tears. With sixty souls Jovani will give Link 200 Rupees whenever he asks. This method of collecting the remains of dead enemies for rewards from cursed individuals is vastly similar to the Skulltula Tokens minigame in Ocarina of Time. There is also a similarity in the Poes in Arbiter's Grounds from Twilight Princess and the Poes from Ocarina of Time considering they too drop their lanterns.

  +

  +
In TFH, Poe Souls appear as a type of Material. They can be found in various Levels of The Ruins, but can also occasionally be bought from the Street Merchant for 1,000 Rupees or found in the Daily Riches minigame.

[[|]] Poe Souls are a recurring items in Template:LZS. They are the remnants of Poes after they have been slain.

Appearances

Ocarina of Time

OoT3D Poe Soul Icon

In Ocarina of Time, a defeated Poe will drop its lamp to the ground, revealing a violet Poe Soul encased within, while a Big Poe will leave behind an orange Big Poe Soul. These can be snatched up in an empty Bottle, and will disappear if left untouched. Consuming either type of Poe Soul will randomly either restore a portion of Link's Hearts or deplete them until he only has a partial Heart remaining.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, defeated Poes also drop their lamps to the ground, revealing a Poe Soul encased within.

Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess, Link can collect up to 60 Poe Souls throughout Hyrule in order to remove the curse on Jovani. Poes can only be detected and defeated as Wolf Link. Collecting 20 Poe Souls for Jovani will lift part of his curse, earning Link a Bottle of Great Fairy's Tears, and the Ghost Lantern in Twilight Princess HD.

TFH Poe Soul

In Tri Force Heroes, Poe Souls appear as a type of Material. They can be found in various Levels of The Ruins, but can also occasionally be bought from the Street Merchant for 1,000 Rupees or found in the Daily Riches minigame.
