The SpaceWorld 2000 Tech Demo showed Link and Ganon having a one on one sword fight in a dim castle hall. This video, along with others like Mario 128, was just created to showcase the processing power and the graphics capabilities of the GameCube hardware.

However, the demo has later been accused of generating false expectations and, on the other hand, it may have also created unwarranted criticism for the first GameCube Zelda game, The Wind Waker. The demo gave the impression that it represented what the upcoming GameCube Zelda game looked like, so many people were – at least initially – disappointed when Nintendo revealed that The Wind Waker used cel-shaded graphics. Several years later, at the end of the GameCube era, the console got another Zelda game – Twilight Princess – which has similar, realistic graphics comparable to this demo, with new graphics effects that very much surpass it.
