Vaati's Palace is the final level in Four Swords and the residence of the Wind Sorcerer Vaati. The palace, later revealed to be named the Palace of Winds in Four Swords Adventures and The Minish Cap, floats high in the sky above Hyrule's surface. The dungeon greatly resembles its appearance in The Minish Cap both in architecture and gameplay. The four Links, who collectively wield the legendary Four Sword, journey across Hyrule to find the necessary keys to open the way to the palace and rescue the captive Princess Zelda from Vaati's clutches.

Background
Vaati's Palace is stated in the prologue of Four Swords to have been the personal dwelling of the Wind Sorcerer Vaati many long years in the past, when he terrorized Hyrule's people and captured beautiful maidens that struck his fancy, whom he would then carry off to his palace among the clouds to keep for his own pleasure. Many knights did everything to stop him, but all ultimately fell to his awesome power and his control over the winds. Finally a young boy wielding a magical sword appeared and stated his intention to overthrow Vaati and rescue the maidens he had seized from across Hyrule. The boy somehow triumphed over the evil wind demon, sealing him within the blade of the Four Sword and taking it deep into the heart of Hyrule's forests, where it was later enshrined in the Four Sword Sanctuary. The maidens later revealed that the sword caused the boy to split into four copies of himself, accounting for how the boy was able to overcome Vaati and resulting in the title that was subsequently given to the blade: the Four Sword.
Appearances
Vaati's Palace has only appeared under that name in Four Swords, though it would later reappear under its true title and have more of its origins revealed in the later games of Four Swords Adventures and The Minish Cap as the Palace of Winds.
Four Swords
After his abduction of Princess Zelda from the Four Sword Sanctuary, Vaati retreats to his palace in the sky above Hyrule, intending to make her his bride there. The four Links are then forced to go on a quest across Hyrule to find the Great Keys that can open the way to the palace and thus allow them to rescue Zelda from Vaati. Eventually, they succeed in this effort and are forced to confront many powerful enemies and the dangerous heights of the palace in order to reach its top and take on the Wind Sorcerer himself. With the power of the Four Sword, they succeed in besting him once again atop the palace, resealing him within the Four Sword's blade and freeing Princess Zelda from her captivity.
Later Games
- Main article: Palace of Winds
The palace would reappear in later games under the title of the Palace of Winds, and more of its backstory is revealed subsequently, especially in The Minish Cap, which reveals the origins of both the palace and the Tower of Winds to involve not Vaati but the mysterious Wind Tribe.
Trivia
One of the possible settings of this level is considerably more difficult than the others.
