- I'll take a look at that, but I wonder, do you have something similar to designate me as a ZI member? I, of course, am very active at ZU, but I became a ZI staff member before I became a ZU staff member.
- Also, what's your ZU screen name?
- One final thing, as I've done extensive research on the "Dark World" in Zelda [I have an unpublished Bombers article about it that was met with unanimous support] I'd like to give the Dark World article a major overhaul, and I HIGHLY suggest that the article not be merged with the Sacred Realm article. - Welcome to the Wiki. In terms of the template. One can be easily created for ZeldaInformer. It's basically just copy/pasting with a few edits involved. I'm sure somebody can toss one together in a matter of minutes. If not I'll get one up later today. Mases 21:14, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Excellent. I won't be around much longer today, but I'll probably put it on my page tomorrow if it's available then. I may begin editing the Dark World page tomorrow, as I think it's in need of some serious changes. When one knows the concept of a "Makai" [the Japanese word used when NoA says Dark World, Evil Realm, etc] the whole mindset of what a Dark World is and does changes. Japanese Text References[]
Something has be brought to my attention by Matt, which I need to mention to you. Though not yet officially documented in Zelda Wiki policy(though after this instance it's going to be added), Zelda Wiki is an English language encyclopaedia of the Zelda series and this means that the Nintendo of America localization/translation is what we go by, to keep consistent. Although both you and I agree the Japanese text is canon over NoA's translations, it isn't that way in the eyes of ZW, which may annoy you slightly, but is quite understandable, being an English Encyclopaedia.
I've discussed it thoroughly with Matt, and we've decided that this doesn't mean all Japanese text is suddenly ridden from the pages. I'll talk about the Dark World article as this is what you are currently working on. We've decided that the mentioning of the Japanese text (Makai/Maou and so forth) is going to be done under the heading "In the Japanese Text" at the bottom of the page. So this means the pages layout is: a brief introduction, table of contents, individual games (Adhering to NoA's text), then the Japanese Text Section and finally references.

- I'll clarify for you. What most consider mistranslations are not actually mistranslations. They are deliberate changes. This is because anything translated from one language to another will sound awkward in the target language. Therefore, it must be localized to the target language and culture. You can see those that did this in the credits for each game. Every language version of the games will have these differences. Meaning that theories and such will be slightly different in another language. So things will get messed up rather quickly if we draw from two different languages to name things and clarify events and places. Since this is an English encyclopedia founded in the United States, we go by the NoA versions wherever applicable. You may have noticed that all the article names for people, places, and enemies are all the NoA version, save for some otherwise unnamed things in AoL or things in TRR, instead of having them be the Japanese names. While the Japanese text can be informative, it is not canon by the current de facto standard on it. We may have policy written up on this as well as theories soon.Matt (Talk) 16:22, March 11, 2009 (UTC)
