Ganondorf in the Super Smash Bros. series is an extremely slow but powerful character. His jumps are very low, making reaching high points difficult. His moveset is copied heavily from Captain Falcon, and the moves have been slowed down greatly; however, if they connect with their opponent, the effect is likely to be devastating. Appearing in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a stat-modified clone of Captain Falcon, Super Smash Bros. Brawl attempts to remove this connotation by continuing to slightly alter both Ganondorf and Captain Falcon, making them seem slightly less like each other.

While primarily a fighting type Pokémon, most of Lucario's moves are augmented with his ability to use Aura, in a style very similar to Mewtwo's Psychic augmented fighting style, but with different techniques similar to martial arts. It has been seen using what appears to be an Aura Sphere from Pokémon Diamond & Pokémon Pearl. Like Mewtwo, he has voice acting attributed to his telepathic abilities demonstrated in the movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, except he seems to speak more than Mewtwo did, especially when announcing his Final Smash, and his victory poses. Lucario is unique among the fighters in that his attacks become more powerful as he takes damage, capping when he is at about 200% and in last place.

Luigi is the younger sibling of Nintendo's mascot, Mario. He is playable in every game of the Super Smash Bros. series, and he is an unlockable character in the first three games.
Luigi is the younger sibling of Nintendo's Mascot, Mario. He has appeared in almost every Mario game since the original. He is actually very different then his older brother. Luigi is taller and slimmer, he can jump higher and slides farther than Mario does. This is apparent in the games in which both are playable, such as Super Mario Galaxy. When the Nintendo GameCube was released, along with it came Luigi's Mansion, the second game Luigi stars in, the first being Mario is Missing!. Luigi may be in love with Princess Daisy as Mario is in love with Princess Peach. Luigi is a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. series, being a hidden character in all three in all Super Smash Bros. games. Ingo and the Gorman Brothers were designed to resemble Luigi, just as Talon was designed to resemble Mario.

Giga Bowser is the super-sized, super powered version of the original Bowser. He has roughly double Bowser's power, size and weight. His speed is halved and his jump, strangely, remains untouched. Giga Bowser can be fought in Adventure Mode if you beat Normal mode or harder without using a continue in less than 18 minutes. He also appears alongside Mewtwo and Ganondorf in Event Match #51. Beating him in Adventure Mode rewards the player with the much-coveted Giga Bowser Trophy, while defeating him and his comrades in the last Event Match yields the boss stage Final Destination, where he and his creators, Master Hand and Crazy Hand, are battled at the end of Classic/Adventure mode. Giga Bowser returns in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as Bowser's Final Smash, and is therefore playable. Playable characters

Bowser

Main article: Bowser
SSB4 Bowser
Bowser

Bowser is the arch-nemesis of Mario and the King of Koopas,[1] and the leader and ruler of the Koopa Troop in the Mario franchise.

Captain Falcon

SSB4 Captain Falcon
Captain Falcon

Captain Falcon, also known as "F-Zero pilot number 07,"[2] is the main protagonist of the F-Zero series, Nintendo's fast-paced futuristic racing video game franchise. Only his machine actually was shown in game, portrayed by a two-dimensional sprite - not until F-Zero X would his character be conveyed by a computer-generated image. The Super Smash Bros. games are the only times he has appeared outside the F-Zero series, aside from his helmet and car or in his anime, and the first time that he himself became a playable character. His signature move, the "Falcon Punch," has become the subject of many parodies.

Diddy Kong

SSB4 Diddy Kong
Diddy Kong

Diddy Kong is Donkey Kong's best pal. He's famous for his peanut popgun and rocketbarrel jetpack. Diddy is a playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He has a major role in The Subspace Emissary, in which he is teamed up with Fox for a large portion of the game. Diddy competed with Link's third place score in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

Donkey Kong

SSB4 Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong is a gorilla and the star of the Donkey Kong video game series. He made his debut in the original Donkey Kong arcade game as the main antagonist with Mario as the protagonist. He has also appeared in many Mario games. Donkey Kong is a playable fighter in every game of the Super Smash Bros. series. DK enjoys playing Zelda songs on his bongos, and he has played them in all 3 of his Donkey Konga games (in different regions), and even has a Zelda noise-set and roulette game for them.

Dr. Mario

Dr. Mario
Dr. Mario

Mario has assumed many roles over the years, one of them being Dr. Mario. With his supply of Megavitamins and Nurse Peach at his side, no disease is incurable for him. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Dr. Mario is very similar to his normal counterpart. His Megavitamins, replacing Mario's fireballs, are somewhat more powerful than the fireballs.

Falco

SSB4 Falco
Falco Lombardi

Falco's past is mysterious, and he always avoids conversation of what he did before joining the team. Falco is seen as the finest pilot of the Star Fox team, possessing a high skill level when at the controls of an Arwing. Shortly after the story of Star Fox 64, he left the team. Where he went and why is unknown, but he does reappear again at the end of Star Fox Adventures to save Fox, and subsequently returns to the Star Fox team. Falco is not a playable character in the original Super Smash Bros. game. However, he is present in the sequels, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and needs to be unlocked in both.

Fox

SSB4 Fox
Fox McCloud

Fox is the leader and captain of the Star Fox Team. Fox is the main character of the Star Fox series. He and his team are all Pilots who defend the galaxy from multiple threats. Fox is also one of the characters in the original Super Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo 64 and its sequel, Super Smash Bros. Melee. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl Fox's moveset remains the same, except for a few changes in appearance such as his "Fox Illusion" move. He is shown piloting his Arwing in the cutscenes and remains a large part of the storyline.

Ganondorf

SSB4 Ganondorf
Ganondorf
Main article: Ganondorf

Ice Climbers

Iceclimbers
Ice Climbers

The Ice Climbers, Nana and Popo, are two best friend mountain climbers from the NES game Ice Climber. They are playable from the start of Super Smash Bros. Melee and return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Ike

SSB4 Ike
Ike

Ike is the leader of the Greil Mercenaries in the Fire Emblem series.[3] He stars in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and the Wii game Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Ike also appears a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and fights alongside Marth and Meta Knight in The Subspace Emissary. Ike takes Roy's place as the powerful character.

Jigglypuff

SSB4 Jigglypuff
Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff is a Normal-type Balloon Pokémon. It is round, pink, fluffy, cuddly, with tiny arms and feet, a tiny tuft of curly hair, and enormous blue eyes and is one of the most popular Pokémon being well known for its attack when it sings its opponent to sleep. Jigglypuff is also the first unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee. However, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl it is one of last the player can unlock (if unlocking through The Subspace Emissary). In Melee and its prequel, it can be unlocked by beating 1P mode once with any character on any difficult setting. Jigglypuff can be unlocked this way in Brawl, but also by playing the Subspace Emissary.

King Dedede

SSB4 King Dedede
King Dedede

King Dedede is the self-proclaimed "King of Dream Land"[4] and one of Kirby's rivals in the Kirby series. However, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Dedede and Kirby become good friends during the Subspace Emissary and is revealed that he was good all along. He is the self-proclaimed king of Dream Land, and often causes trouble, though he is not necessarily evil. King Dedede appears as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He is a heavyweight character and shares Kirby's multi-jump ability.

Kirby

SSB4 Kirby
Kirby

Kirby, also known as "Kirby of Dream Land",[5] is a small pink being from the planet Popstar. Kirby inhabits Popstar, in a country called Dreamland ruled by King Dedede. King Dedede hates Kirby and is constantly sending monsters to defeat him. Kirby is capable of copying the special ability of anything he eats. He has a very positive attitude, and is never afraid of a fight. Kirby has made one cameo appearance in the Zelda series, apart from the Super Smash Bros. series. An enemy in Link's Awakening is called the Anti-Kirby, and features incredibly similar abilities. Kirby in the only non-Zelda character to make a cameo in Link's Awakening that is not a part of the Mario series, aside from Richard.

Link

LinkSSBN
Link
Main article: Link

Link in Super Smash Bros. is an average-stat fighter, bringing with him an arsenal of weapons and tools from his Bow to Bombs. He uses many of the moves he's learned over the years, such as the Great Spin and the Down Thrust. Link hasn't changed much throughout the series, outside of minor cosmetic changes such as from Super Smash Bros. Melee to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where his appearance changed from the Ocarina of Time Link to the Twilight Princess Link.

Lucario

SSB4Lucario
Lucario

Lucas

Lucas
Lucas

Lucas is a character with psychic powers from the Mother series, much like Ness. Specifically, he is from Mother 3, a game that was never released in the US. However, Lucas makes an appearance as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Luigi

Main article: Luigi
SSB4 Luigi
Luigi

Luigi is the younger sibling of Nintendo's mascot, Mario. He is playable in every game of the Super Smash Bros. series, and he is an unlockable character in the first three games.

Mario

Main article: Mario
SSB4 Mario
Mario

Mario is one of the most recognizable video game characters ever and the mascot of Nintendo. Like Link, he was created by Shigeru Miyamoto. In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, an unlockable bonus would place the crest of the Hyrule royal family on the top of Samus's ship, provided there is save data for Twilight Princess on the Wii. The Dark/Light aspect of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, as well as the Temples, keys, and Metroid's first NPCs were said by Retro Studios to have been inspired by A Link to the Past, which was a popular game with the team.
